Version History of Denniston

2.01

October 18, 2020

Wow. Where to start. The original Denniston app was written for the Department of Conservation over 10 years ago. With no maintenance plan or budget, the app was left untouched and eventually wouldn't work on modern iOS devices. I've finally found time to completely rewrite the app. Although there is no new content, there are also no deprecated API calls, or constants referring to fixed view sizes. The bottom line? Denniston is back with all the original content but now working on all modern iOS devices. Enjoy! Version 2.01 includes more minor user interface enhancements and a few more images of Denniston.

Description of Denniston

The Denniston Rose Trail is an interactive self-guided literary trail to the place that inspired the best-selling books by Jenny Pattrick — The Denniston Rose and Heart of Coal. Developed by the Department of Conservation and Design for Innovation at the University of Otago, the trail comprises 17 key locations from the books, guiding visitors to traverse its uniquely rugged landscape, exploring Denniston's history. Denniston, once NZ's largest producing coal mining area, is now managed by the Department of Conservation as an ICON heritage site, conserving and interpreting the area to showcase and bring to life New Zealand's early industrial heritage.
