Description of RV Weight Safety Report by Fifth Wheel St.

The RV Weight Safety Report Calculator by Fifth Wheel Street is the premier self-help RV safety app that provides the industry-leading 13-Point Weight Safety Report. This app simplifies the tasks involved with weighing your tow vehicle and fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer with step-by-step instructions. The app is designed primarily for RV owners, outdoor recreationists, farmers and ranchers who tow fifth wheel or gooseneck trailers. The final report details 13 weighing points including 7 points indicating the safety margin or overload conditions by displaying red or green numbers. This app works on all mobile device sizes. Our RV weight safety app guides you step-by-step on how to weigh your fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer and determines if you are towing safely below your weight safety ratings. Our app instructions provide additional glossary terms used in the industry and describe how to weigh at multiple platform scales, such as CAT Scales, and single axle scales. View your weight safety report in 4 easy steps: -Step 1: Enter your vehicles' certification weight ratings. -Step 2: Weigh your vehicle with your fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer attached and enter the required weight data. -Step 3: Weigh your vehicle without your fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer attached and enter the required weight data. -Step 4: View the results of your Weight Safety Report. Are you towing below the load ratings? The RV Safety and Education Foundation data indicates that 60% of all tow vehicles and 55% of all 5th wheel trailers exceed one or more weight safety ratings. Ensure you're not the one exceeding a load rating. The number one most-reported RV insurance claim is the result of damage from the sudden release of air from tires, otherwise known as a blowout. An overloaded tire or underinflated tire can cause a sudden loss of air, also known as a blowout. When towing a trailer, it’s crucial to ensure that the load is distributed evenly as possible. You want to make sure that all necessary safety precautions have been taken to prevent an accident or a blowout. Even a slight overload, or unequal weight distribution, can seriously restrict the vehicle’s braking and steering capabilities. Higher fuel consumption and driver fatigue are also common side effects of traveling with an overloaded and poor-handling trailer. Install this app and weigh your rig soon to achieve safer towing for you, your family, and all on the road. Caution: Do not use this app for conventional towing. Reviews of RV Weight Safety Report by Fifth Wheel St.

  • Calculation error

It appears that the Hitch GTWR and the trailer GVWR are swapped. My trailer GVWR is 16184 but the app states that my vertical load is 546 lbs. My Hitch GTWR is 2184 (25% of 2184 is 546) But 25% of 16184 is 4046, which is a lot more than the manufacturer says the hitch weight is 2184…. This app is confusing
  • Impossible to use

Author wrote about using this app to figure out if a truck and trailer combo is a good fit. I buy the app and discover that o have to take the truck and trailer to a weigh station to complete the calculation. Ahhh

    Developer Response

You claim that I "wrote about using this app to figure out if a truck and trailer combo is a good fit." Where did you read that? There is no such wording in the description. The second sentence states, "This app simplifies the tasks involved with weighing your tow vehicle and fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer with step-by-step instructions." There's no ambiguity.
  • Too little too late

    Best used for DOT inspectors

    Developer Response

DOT inspectors are not responsible for ensuring that a tow vehicle and trailer combination are not exceeding the weight safety ratings. Each vehicle owner is solely responsible and bears all liability. The RV Weight Safety Report is designed specifically for the vehicle owner.
