Does just what it says
If you are looking for a radio controlled helicopter simulator, this is surprisingly good. You set it up in a similar way to how you'd set up your RC helicopter and you fly it in more or less the same fashion.
Control responses are quite realistic. Not super-easy like the most basic RC models but the behaviour is close to what you would expect with the real thing. Spend some time with this simulator and I think it would help prepare you for the real thing.
The biggest downside is, as you might expect, that you are limited by using a two-dimensional screen. It is definitely harder not being able to see more of the surroundings (thought there are useful zoom options) and depth perception is tricky. I do think the developers have tackled this limitation very well. The other screen issue, on my iPhone, is that the helicopter quickly gets very small as it gets further away, to the extent that it isn't easy to see which way it is pointing. Luckily there is a reset button! It must be better on an iPad, in this respect.
Touchscreen controls will never give you the feedback that physical controls provide. Nevertheless, they work well on my iPhone, way better than on the i-Copter, for example. I find the rudder control is quite touchy and the cyclic (~ aileron/elevator) less touchy and realistically laggy. It is strange not having trim on the control panel, which says how realistic it can feel.
I haven't tried any of the extras yet. It may be that other helicopter options fly differently. However, the basic model provided adequately prepares you for flying a generic RC helicopter and it is nice to have the option to go further.
If you are looking for a game, this is not it. If you want something to hone your skills with, this is excellent. It is actually a little harder than flying the real thing, which is how it should be. All in all, an excellent "app" which does just what it says.Show lessDeep7
Worst sim ever
I fly rc helicopters and airplanes (8years) but this sim is not a good learning tool nor a good representation of what it feels like to fly. If I could suggest make the stick sensitivity a scroll bar so you can customize it.Sendmedem
Nice RC Simulator for iPad.
I have an iPad 3 and this RC Sim is exactly what I wanted. Absolute RC Sim is great :) It gives u the feeling of flying am RC Heli, plane or boat. I like the photo realistic background. Flying the choppers and planes is like really standing in a park and flying - except the part about having to fork-out hundreds for replacement parts for damaged planes and cringes from onlookers ;). If u are an RC enthusiast you will appreciate this on the iPad. The included plane, chopper and boats go well. I bought the add-on A-10 and it controls just like an RC A10. Very Cool!
With Christmas just passing and after seeing thousands of RC helicopters sold, this app peaked my interest. I must admit I've never flown or played any sort of game related to rc helicopters, but I found this app to be quiet enjoyable.
The graphics were great, the controls while easy to learn but challenging to master was spot on. This app is an excellent way to practice your skills if you enjoy rc helicopters.

Version 2.3.0 Does Not Work
I have just downloaded the latest version of the app and am sad to say what was an enjoyable experience has been taken away as the app does not load. Click on the app and the screen just sits there saying "Loading Please Wait"... Should not have been released yet.
Buggy and laggy in menu screen with poor flow and not a lot of explanations.
The camera modes are all more or less similar in that they are really useless.
The camera needs to turn with the chopper instead of staying in one position.
The controls are way too fine. There should be a scale all the way up the sides of the screen. The difference between full tilt one way and the other is just too small and hard to get accurate.
You may say its a simulator and it's hard to control an rc chopper in real life but there is no feedback in this app and it is simply not this hard to judge fine movements.
More work is needed before this app becomes usable more than once or twice.
Asking users for $2 to unlock extra choppers is utterly ridiculous! If there was something to look forward to then maybe $1 for the complete pack of 4 would be reasonable.Show lessPisscop

Many bad features are on this application. Many people say 'hard to control' and 'boring' this is NOT what I mean. People have to realize that the app is not a game or entertainment.
In the learning area I would recommend this to people studying this area of flight. I think that it would help them to get a feel of flying an aircraft or seeing how the controls react.
The graphics aren't that good and you have to pay for a lot of new features; this is where you lost a star.
The other star was lost because education like this should really be explained better, the overall simulator isn't that good.
