Landscape View

The map is available in landscape view but the daily temperature forecast is not. This is not useful nor helpful to those who use an iPad with a keyboard that wants a quick check of the forecast. Make the whole app available in landscape view. That’s the way people view their TV’s (landscape) so why not all apps.

Some Suggestions

This is is great to have. My phone is older so it does not have the latest version, so some of these things may have been addressed already and I apologize if they have been. Anyway, not everyone is available to watch the news broadcast at 10:00pm which is where we get our local weather forecast updates until 4/4:30am. The national channels do not cover the South well, unless something horrible happens, then they swarm in. North Alabama does not exist to these people. So my suggestion for your Weather Authority Video Forecast Section is to please put the latest video up which would be the 10:00 pm. It is already being recorded so you just have to upload it. Then we can click on that and have an idea of what to expect. Weather changes can happen rapidly so from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm the storm track may have changed, especially with hurricanes and possibly storms that produce tornadoes.

Also, the App should have fresh stories on them, the ones there are from 5 years ago. Leave how to tune your NOAA Weather Radio and information like that but news stories should be what was done during the numerous broadcasts. The App should be able to keep up better.

Thanks.

My Review

I think that this app is very helpful, especially if you just want to do a quick check to see the temp and see if there is rain around before you head out. However, you have to go to Facebook if you go live with storms because when you hit the live streaming section, it tells you that the channel is not live unless you break into programming. Another issue for me is you can not layer more than one thing at a time onto the radar. Lastly the time lapse at the bottom of the screen on the interactive radar goes way too fast on the 24 outlook and the regular one only shows just a few minutes.

I would like to add that when the weather is potentially bad enough that the meteorologists say we need to go live to warn people, you should break in to whatever programming is on no matter what it is. Weather can turn dangerous quickly and not everyone can get to a device but they can have the tv on. You can always replay whatever programming is on my announcing, we will replay this the next day at some late hour so they can record ot watch it. There is also the option of moving the programming to one of your other channels. Weather should always come first over programming.... unless there is a civil authority briefing on war breaking out or something like that. This is Alabama and everybody knows that even the mildest Cell can ramp up very quickly.

Crashes!

Still crashing! The other weather apps open right up but not WHNT’s! I reinstalled a few days ago.. won’t open again tonight!

No Live Streaming

Links finally started to work…the live streaming in this app goes to WHNT’s web site where I had to click on more links to get the live streaming for the current severe weather. Why open the app when a person can go directly to the website? This is taking the app backwards and not useful or helpful during bad weather. There are other ways and other apps to get weather alerts on.

——————————

No Live Streaming during tornado warnings! WHNT keeping their commitment to others and no longer the public in the city or county they live in and work in. This app is really lacking because of that and no longer useful while people are in shelter.

Best Weather Forecasting

The app is ok but stop with the “improvements”, please. However, you have the best, most reliable weather forecasting around. That’s what counts so keep up the good work.

Boring

What was wrong with the old version? I loved it. This is just boring to look at.

Why Fix what Ain’t Broke?

I have used this app for a long time. Today I removed it and went with another. I did this because I don’t like not being able to get the day’s weather without having to wait for the app to load, and it isn’t easy to find stuff anymore. The changes are not user friendly.

Not good

I can’t tell what is news and what is ads.
It’s flashy if that’s what you are looking for.
Deal me out.

Great replacement for iMap Weather

I started using this app to replace iMap Weather Radio, which was deprecated and no longer worked. I can safely say that I get all needed alerts for both my location in Oklahoma City, and for my parents who live in the Northwest Alabama area (covered by the station behind this application). This app does what I need and does it quickly, within 1 minute of warning issuances, allowing me to assess the threat to my parents and advise them accordingly (they’re not as weather savvy as me).
