Does not work, don’t buy maps

Was hopeful but disappointed

Dated, unreliable - borderline dangerous

Better to use openstreetmap derivates like CalTopo on your phone and buy the paper Tabacco maps.

Cumbersome to import tracks

Cumbersome to import and display GPX tracks. Requires connection to a Mac computer and using Finder to copy files into TabaccoMapp folder, then go into app to enable display. No built in import functionality. Only displays GPX track (TRKPT) files, does not show route (RTEPT) files.

Broken and confusing

Logging in with Apple ID results in «Communication error». UI is super confusing. I guess I’ll stick with paper maps.

Good but can be improved

I’ve just completed a 7-day hike in the Dolomites of Cortina d’Ampezzo using the app. Overall a really good experience, the maps are very detailed and clear. The app’s interface looks a bit dated, an area for improvement. The biggest issue was that the app logged out every 24 hours, imagine being stuck somewhere without a data connection and unable to load the maps.

Stick to their paper maps

Had no luck downloading maps despite paying for them. I’m a heavy map app user and not impressed with this one.

Does this app even work?

I’m trying to download a map and the only screen I ever see is Buy this Sheet…. Even when I try to buy it, whatever the “sheet” is, nothing happens.

Very useful

I used this app very successfully walking in the lake Garda region of Italy.
Detailed 1:25000 maps together with all the walking trails which are marked, a pity that this is only available as a download to your phone or tablet, it would be great if it was available for the GPS devices as well.
However the quality of the maps is excellent, currently better than that available elsewhere.
Recommended.

Usual bad software

Buggy. Can’t open downloaded maps. No help.

Alta Via 1

Used this app while hiking the AV1. It exceeded my expectations. I downloaded the necessary map sections before leaving for my hike (from Lago Di Braies to Belluno).
The integrated GPS is very helpful. The GPS position identifier is shaped like a pointer, so you just point your phone at a trail intersection to figure out which way you need to go.
It was also nice for tracking progress along the trail and making sure I was on the right trail.
I HIGHLY recommend this app.
Plus, the few sections I bought on the app ended up being cheaper than the paper maps.
