We have made one comic strip so far. I created it for one of my 3yr old boys to help him not be scared of the dark. SHCBM is great as a simple tool to tell a story, with basic animation (whatever you can do by dragging items around the screen). The sound recording is excellent, although you want to be somewhere quiet. It will pick up background noise. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it's missing some functionality. First, you can't recreate the types of animations you see on the website video. You can only manipulate what's already on the screen during record, rather than make things appear, disappear, make larger, or smaller. The biggest issue is you can only share essentially screen shots of your comics. I couldn't find a way to save the comic strips with animation and sound. So the story I made my son is stuck on my phone. You are also limited to 12 panels per comic strip, and you only seem to have one strip at a time. You can't build a bunch of different strips, then save them. Editing/deleting is also available on every panel, even during playback. I wish there was a lock function.
All of that being said, I gave it four stars because of how easy it is to make panels, throw together animation and sound, and have a personalized strip. The coloring pages are really fun, and the boys spent a long time just on them. Those can become part of a strip, too. You can also make any picture on your device a panel background, add text, funny hats and accessories, and sound. We have a number of DDM apps and it seems like there is a lot of art from their other apps available in this one. It says monsters and superheroes, but there's also dragons, diggers, dump trucks, and other vehicles. Its not super complicated. My kids really love this app.
