What. A. Game.
Fans of BSG / TREK and many others, will love this game for it’s amazingly detailed but easy to grasp stations and controls. Its definitely not a single player game, which I imagine is why it doesn’t have a 5 star rating on here.
If you got a few nerdy friends that you can convince to buy this app, once you play a session together you will understand the hype.
LAN is definitely an old school way to play a game in 2022, but operating a starship requires instant communication with your peers. There be no better way than doing it in person. The full touch controls from your iphone or iPad is incredibly satisfying.
This game won’t wow you with its visuals but it’s also not trying too. There is a crazy ton of stuff working behind the scenes to make the experience feel true to life and completely sucked me in. It’s not an easy game but man is it rewarding when you succeed.
All this said - I wouldn’t recommend playing without at least 2 or 3 other individuals at a minimum.
Artemis smartly gives you the ability to helm several stations at once, however, some roles like Engineering are practically are full time jobs.
You will definitely want a minimal crew to help share in the wearing of multiple hats.
This iOS version of Artemis is currently locked at version 2.4 for the foreseeable future, but honestly it’s been ok and much easier for me to get large groups of players together for LAN parties than it ever was whenever I would try to get group seasons going on PC. I don’t roll deep in PC gaming so I dont really have a PC community to summon.
This version is fantastic and just works.
The minimum requirements are so low, it virtually guarantees anyone using an iOS can play and we will ALL be on the same version.
Considering how many people own iOS devices, and how easy they are to transport, I find it much more convenient and easy to play in this ecosystem regularly.
It’s hard to believe one guy created this game and I’m glad he hasn’t abandoned ship even if iOS does get nearly as much love.
Support this game. It’s totally worth it.
