It’s only the beginning...

To be fair, I only downloaded this app last night but I wanted to share my appreciation for it so far.

I was tired of using myfitnesspal. I never liked the design of it much and I just never seemed to lose weight or feel any type of success. However, I need to track cholesterol because that suddenly became a thing I had to worry about and the majority of other tracking apps made that impossible without paying. Therefore, I really, really, really love CalorieKing for not just tracking macros AND for letting me choose what I want to glance at quickly when I open the app. I don’t know how well my weight loss journey will go (that’s on me), the ease of seeing nutritional details is wonderful. The design is lovely and I certainly don’t mind adding in food details.
I also know some days I will be in a rush out the door or into bed but I need to slow my add down anyway.

Another thing I love about it from the start is I can put in recipes. I am always cooking, baking, and I love trying new recipes. I haven’t used it yet so I don’t know the pros and cons, but the fact that it’s there and so easy to find got me stoked.

The only thing I wish it had a button for is syncing with my Fitbit. That way, the steps and exercise I do get in a day goes right into my calories burned and vice versa. This is the only critique I have at first glance.

I’m excited to get more into this app and look forward to little changes here and there.

Great app

I really enjoy this app and prefer it over my fitness pal. However, since one of the latest updates, when creating a new food and adding the nutritional info such as calories, protein etc, when you enter a field, the views scrolls right to the bottom of the page, so you have to scroll back up to where you were entering the numbers and add there. It’s a bit frustrating when entering the full nutritional info of new food products. Some features that might be good to include in future update: the ability to add protein, fibre etc goals to see how you’re tracking along the day, also the ability to see your macro nutritient breakdown of calories consumed, eg 30% protein, 40% carbs, 30% fat, along with the ability to set targets on the ratios.

Easy to use...just needs two things to improve on

I do like like this app. It is simple and easy to use. I can track calories and macros and water intake. The only two things I would say to make this app even better are:
1. Calculate remaining macros in summary...just like the app does it for remaining calories.
2. Improve barcode scanner. I tried scanning a low-fat cottage cheese brand and it couldn’t pull it up. I was surprised.

Overall, I think it is a great free app to track the necessities. I recommend it.

Just what I needed

This app is what I’ve been looking for! I tried to lose weight for years and finally found a diary system that works for me. Being able to have food, exercise and water consumption all in one app is great. I’m able to keep track easily and see progress. It’s easy to enter food from the app’s database or add your own food/recipes. I lost 30 pounds using this journal system. I think because it is easy and motivational to see the progress.

I got this to calculate recipe calories, and there are barely any foods in the data base.

I have to manually input all of the nutritional information for everything I eat. There is no point to using this app. It is faster if I hand write it down and calculate portions with a calculator. If the food is sold at Costco, Walmart, or other national chain retailer it should already be in here. I would understand if a specialty food from a small, independent retailer isn’t in here. They are just using users as free information gathers. I never rate apps, but I was so annoyed by this within 5 minutes that I felt compelled to go out of my way and warn people against it. Back to Fat Secret.

Easy for me & visually motivating!

This is my first calorie counting app. It’s easy enough that I don’t tire of using it and can keep up with my routine of counting carbs fats and calories. I am not focusing on precision, so it doesn’t bother me that when I went to Crocker Barrel restaurant my entree did not populate in the search. Rather, I just put in a similar item. I stumbled CalorieKing app when it popped up as a suggestion as I was googling carbs amounts for various food. It’s much better than my google method of keeping count. I really enjoy this app and hope to reach my goal of 175 lbs. I also love that CalorieKing tailors my nutritional limits & exercise amounts to the personal goal I set! It gives a visual reminder everyday with it circle chart.

So far so good!

So far I like it so much more than MFP! I like that it has your total macros right at the top, just makes things easier...and when your counting macros the easier the better! I just wish there were more foods in the database linked to barcodes. Since I just started using the app I am constantly entering in new foods. But, I know that will just take time and won’t last forever. Overall, so far so good!

Easy to update info

Enjoyable app to track calories and exercise

Needs I to interface with major apps

CalorieKing does not interface with the Apple iPhone ‘Health Data’. This app should automatically populate with your exercise recorded in your iphone. Also, if you enter 1 egg or 1 bacon in your meal diary, it should populate your entry with nutritional info automatically. Isn’t CalorieKing a database of just such nutritional information???

Developers take note! Get data from your own huge database and work with other popular phone and internet apps. This diet tracking app would be vastly improved if it pulled data from various sources to correspond to the users entries. Thank you

Great product for food management but doesn’t account for exercise well

For many years I have used this app to manage my food intake (it has most foods though is a bit slow to add in trending kinds of foods). I have always found the calorie counting good but the exercise part very clunky. Now I am doing the 10,000 steps program I’m feeling quite disgruntled because I have to leave the app to calculate the calories used in my steps in another app, then go back into this app and make up a walking speed and time spent walking that adds up to the calories I’ve burned. Really I feel in 2018 when everyone is using pedometers that this app could get with the program!
