  • Excellent Digital version now

HiFi news needs no recommendation as the premier British journal devoted to high quality audio equipment. I have been an avid reader for decades and respect the judgment of its long standing contributors.
The latest digital version is now excellent: allowing full download of current issue which then does not require Internet connection to read. It is easy to flick through the pages and magnify if required.
The previous digital version was awful - this is version is a real transformation.

  • Audiophile Essential Reading

Hi-Fi News has been at the forefront of keeping high end audio enthusiasts informed of the developments in the industry. I have been an irregular reader and subscriber since my early thirties, some thirty six years ago. In those early days I had a very moderate system nowhere near high end. With guidance from the magazine I have now built a very pleasing system which is light years ahead of what I used to own. Hi-Fi News has helped in two ways, firstly in allowing me to compare items I would later audition and also with their advertisers they have put me in touch with some excellent (and refreshingly, honest) dealers. Longs live HFN&RR!

  • Excellent

Top-notch customer service. And so much more convenient (not to mention cheaper) than either an international subscription or trying to find a copy at the not-so-local Barnes and Noble.
  • Great Mag Needs Help

Mag and content are first class. The app is still steerage class.
  • Hi Fi news

Great app, a excellent way to get the Hi Fi News
  • Hi Fi News

This is a fantastic magazine for hifi enthusiasts.
  • Worse than the previous app

Hard to believe, but the new app is even more unstable and temperamental than the previous one, while adding nothing in terms of meaningful features, performance, or improved navigation.
Moreover, it installs in parallel to the previous app, rather than replacing it, so you end up with both apps. To add insult to injury, while the new app "knows" which issues you have purchased, it can not access them (even though your old app still can, i.e. they are still "there" on your ipad), so you end up having to download all content again. The re-download is painfully slow and unreliable, regardless of your internet speed (pocket mags must be too stingy for anything except the narrowest bandwidth). This last problem also affects the old app, of course.
In summary, forget about this "new app"/"upgrade" until the stability issues are solved - BTW it took a good 9 months for the previous app to achieve a modicum of reliability, so don't hold your breath in terms of rapid fixes for the new app. In the meantime stick with the old app.
As a last observation: if download speed and remaining issues in old app (and all the issues in the new app) are not fixed soon, I will not be renewing my electronic subscription to Hi-Fi News.
