  • One star is too high

I wish I could give this app a zero and still be able to say why I want but I have to give at least one star. There are to many issues to lay out here but I’ll throw out my main gripe. After 6 months of using this app all the information I had for my tank just went away. And when your in the middle of trying to set dosing you don’t need to loose all your saved parameters. This app really need to be worked on and hopefully one day they will come back and try to make imp. Until then I’ll just go back to excel spreadsheets. Don’t waste time on the free version and especially don’t waste your money on the one you have to buy..

This is Dmitry, I’ve created AquaticLog over 10 years ago and have been working on this service since then. I saw your review in the App Store and wanted to reach out. First of all - I understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Second - none of your information is gone, I’m not sure what happened at that exact moment when you experienced the issue yet, but please rest assured that ALL of your data is intact and can be accessed both via the iPhone (I’ve verified that) as well as logging in to aquaticlog.com website with the same credentials. That is one of the features that makes AquaticLog unique - you can access all of your data from multiple devices at the same time. I apologize for this experience as well as for my late reply and promise to address any issues you might come across should you be willing to give the app another try.
  • Intrigued so far

Let’s me track parameters for cycling my tank. Not a necessity since I can do this myself on a spreadsheet, but it is nice that it graphs it for you. Takes out a few steps of the work there if you like that kind of thing. Still exploring the rest before considering any kind of subscription.
  • Must have for the avid aquarist!

I have been using the pro version for over a year now and I don’t know how I would manage my many tanks without it….things would have fallen to the wayside long ago. Great detailed record keeping features that can be customized for each tank you have! New features and improvements added regularly and there is a community in the app to boot! Shoot I even track my hot tub in it….

I really appreciate it :) especially the hot tub! :)
  • Love this app!

I have been using AquaticLog almost since it was started. I have several personal tanks and almost 20 tanks (soon to be about 30) that I take care of at work all on this app. Using the reminders and notifications keeps me up to date on all my tanks for dosing and media replacement, and I know when I need supplies for client tanks. Uploading images over time let’s you track fish and coral growth and system health. This has been an invaluable tool for me and I will continue to use it. Yes, it costs to use the Pro version, but that money goes towards development and server space for the thousands of pictures that are hosted. I think that is a pretty fair trade for the service I receive. Love this app!
  • I love it!

Keeps track of everything I need about my tank and keeps me up to date on my maintenance. Will definitely continue using for the foreseeable future
  • The app was good until…

I’ve been using and loving the app for the past month, but ever since the last update it’s been broken, it will not let me enter in my parameters anymore, I get to the screen for the parameters and then hit “add” and nothing happens, I’ve tried force closing the app as well, no fix.
  • Too expensive

Update: developer feedback was "dKH recommendation is just a guideline and you can override it to your liking on a per aquarium basis. AquaticLog has been around for many years thanks to the support of paying customers, all of its features are free for 1 aquarium, if a person has more than 1 aquarium, there is a very good likelihood they can afford a subscription."
I like how the developer assumes that if you have more than one tank you can afford multiple tank subscriptions... I have 2 3 gallon tanks with a hand full of corals, I have a 1 gallon jar tank additionally, I used my tax return to start these tanks then the rest to pay bills ahead, and furthermore I just recently lost my job after staring the tanks. You shouldn't make assumptions it makes you the 3 letters of the word....

Original review: there are good apps for this under 5 bucks, was excited about this app but can only manage 1 tank unless you want to spend 20 bucks. tbh i keep a paper log in a reef journal so i dont need this but wanted water change reminders, 20 bucks is rediculous for this type of app. also your dkh reminders are off it tells you its bad to have dkh of 12 and that it should be 11 thats false 12 is acceptable and even 13 if all other params are good. also a pain to adjust your readings you input if you typo something, think i will stick to paper and pen.

  • Great Customer Service

Locked my self out and couldn’t remember any details! Great service as they reset my password and updated my email for me! Very impressed!
  • Forgot password

If I can’t reset a forgotten password then the app is useless to me. It was a great idea but I’ll move on and try something else. If you do try it, don’t lose your password.
  • You can’t live without this app!

I won’t lie, when I went to add my 4th tank, I was disappointed to see that this app switched to a subscription service for multiple tanks. Since I knew I was going to be ponying up the dough, I quickly went and looked to see what else is out there.

NOTHING comes close to AquaticLog! The website and app are both easy to use and a convenient way to watch how your tank progresses. The mobile version is more difficult to add inhabitants, but a piece of cake to do in the web format.

Thank you for continuing to provide such a great app, and I am happy to support you with my new annual membership.

    Developer Response

Much appreciated, from the bottom of my heart! Dmitry
