About

5herlock helps you understand your child as they are, not as you imagine them. It also helps you understand the other parent, and yourself. The app draws on the Enneagram: nine ways of being in the world, none better than another. Not a label but a map: a way to see what is going on for the other person, and adjust how you respond. YOUR CHILD IS NOT A MINI-YOU Take the quiz for yourself, then for your child. Duo shows what your two profiles bring each other, and where they clash. It is easy to see yourself in your child. When your own type comes out on top of their result, or just behind it, the app points it out: that type may come from your lens as much as from your child. TWO VIEWS OF THE SAME PERSON • Combined view: the other parent takes the same test on your phone, without seeing your answers. Your two views are compared, then combined. • Second opinion: typing yourself is hard. Someone close answers a few questions about you, and their view is compared with yours. When the views differ, talk it over: that is often where things become clear. WHAT'S INSIDE • Quiz: a test that adapts to your answers. Sliders, points to distribute, a two-axis compass, and finally the wing, the adjacent type that shades the main one. For yourself, for your child (one test, designed for age 10 and over; younger children are still taking shape) or for someone close: they answer on your phone, or you describe them. • Profiles: My family and the nine types in depth. Each page adapts to the person it describes: for a child, milestones for their age and three keys to support them; for an adult, what drives them. • Duo: for any pair of types, what flows between them and where the friction lies, with practical advice. Parent and child, children together, adults together. • Family map: your household seen as a system. The balance between gut, heart and head, and the dynamics pair by pair. • Case files: a detective game to learn to spot the nine types through 45 well-known figures, with a casebook to fill in and ranks from Trainee to Sherlock. • My journal: one question a day about your life as a parent. Answer whenever you like. A LEAD, NOT A LABEL The Enneagram is not the only way to read people, and it has its limits. A result is a lead, a starting point for a conversation, never a verdict on your child. In children, a profile is not fixed: it sharpens as they grow. Take what speaks to you, leave the rest. NO ACCOUNT NEEDED TO START The quiz, Duo and the game open straight away, with no account. You only need an Apple or Google account to save your family and your journal. Anything you have already done is kept. FREE AND PRIVATE • Free, no ads, no subscription. • No data sold. • Your journal is private: it is saved with your account and not shared with anyone. You can delete an answer whenever you like. • You can delete your account and all your data from within the app. • In English and French. WHY THIS APP It began with a father's questions, at night, in the hallway: am I doing this right? What am I going to pass on? To support a child, you need to know both the one who passes on and the one who receives. These nine ways of being are a map, not a box: they are only worth something if they help you see the person in front of you more clearly, and leave them free to surprise you.
