  • Bad Faith

I purchased this app several years ago. It stopped working and dropped out after the IOS8 upgrade. I contacted their support (not easy to find) who said they would refund me if I could give proof of purchase. However, ‘discontinued’ apps drop off the Apple purchases list. I could not get a refund. If they did not know this, they should have. They should also have offered an upgrade, not just let a $30 app die like that without explanation. Bad faith AOD. I notice also that there is another version for $31+ so why they pretend this app is free when you have to pay the same amount for content I really do not understand. Again, bad faith AOD. The dictionary itself is splendid. It is the service and the lack of easy to find support and the dishonesty that I dislike.

Some people require In-App purchases and some can not use them. We provide two app so that we can cover everyone. There is a link to the support email address in the About section of the app. -That didn't help you back when there was a crashing issue 6 years ago, but now Apple's review process is much faster, so when a new version of the OS causes a problem we can fix it much quicker.
  • What a waste of time!

Downloaded the app only to discover it's going to cost $29.95 to access the damn thing. All it did was waste time and data. This is NOT a free app.

"Free to download" is different from "Free". The app lets you sample the content before purchasing. It clearly says in the description that it is not free.
  • Disappointing for the price

Poor interface and usability. More thought and testing needs to go into visual design and interaction. Using the app feels like using a website from the 90's.
  • Rubbish

The only redeeming feature of this app is its content: the estimable Oxford Dictionary.

It is ugly, unbelievably ugly. Did a teenager design this in their holidays using screen grab and MS Paint?

It's also really hard to use. It's not clear what is a button or a link, it's not clear what the bottom buttons mean. It has ads, and constantly bugs you for an expensive IAP for a thesaurus. If I wanted a thesaurus, I would have got a thesaurus app.

I don't mind paying $15-20 for a good dictionary, but this dictionary is rubbish at a price point of free. It's a shame, because the Oxford Dictionary is the best, but this app is the worst.

  • What's going on?

I purchased AOD years ago! Why does my app not work, and why do i get the impression that I am to re-purchase?

I want a refund of my $30 if the app does not work - not to have to pay more money.

We hope you have moved back to the app you originally purchased.
  • Thieves & scoundrels

I, like others, paid a lot of money for this app. It now seems I'm expected to purchase the same thing again? I'm disappointed Apple let the developers do this. I read in the info you can enjoy this app for years to come, don't believe them. Very disappointed. No stars.

We hope you have found the app you originally purchased.
  • ios8 - refuses to work, no contacts

Purchased two or three years ago for many $$$. Now upgrade to iPhone 8 and will not work at all.

After downloading 250MB of AOD realised it was a InApp purchase for 25.00 Dollars - what a waste of time to download this while there are free versions
