Look for the keyboard switch button on the top right corner of the keyboard when you are coding. We can’t wait to see all the fabulous projects you will create! 3.66.0

You are getting some bug fixes in this release: - Previously, any empty drafts (unpublished projects without objects or code) will be automatically deleted in Hopscotch. We have fixed it so that if you purchased custom art with seeds in an unpublished project, it will be kept in your drafts even if it’s empty. - You may have noticed that when you duplicate an object with a name that ends with a number, the duplicated object will have the same name as the original object, making it confusing to distinguish the two. This is now fixed, and all the duplicates will have a number appended to the original object name. If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. As always, happy Hopscotching!

Get ready for a game-changer: you can now rotate your objects on stage! This will help you visualize your game better while coding on stage. In addition, projects with the request seed blocks will no longer be automatically removed from the app. Instead, these projects will go through the filtering process similar to projects containing custom art when you publish them. Subscribers can also access their seed dashboard by logging in to https://community.gethopscotch.com/sign_in. As always, if you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

Hey Hopscotchers, you can now earn seeds with your projects with the Request Seed block as a part of the Hopscotch subscription! Here is how it works: - The Request Seed block can be found in the blue Control section of the blocks keyboard. - Each product can only be sold once in your game. This means that if someone already bought a speed boost in your game, they cannot purchase it again. To sell other types of speed boost in your game, you can create multiple speed boost products in the Request Seed block. - To prevent people from changing your code and removing the seed purchases, all projects with the Request Seed block will not be remix-able in Hopscotch. Try out the seed block today with your subscription! You can use this block to charge seeds for extra levels, special ability upgrades, and different skins for your characters. Can you think of other things to sell in your project? You are also getting three new blocks in Hopscotch: - The Set Trail Cap block changes how the ends of the line will look. This block is available in Advanced Mode. - The Set Trail Opacity block changes how transparent a line appears. This block is available in Advanced Mode. - The Show Pop-up block shows the users a message in a pop-up window. It’s useful for announcements, hints and instructions in your project. Other improvements: - You can now add comments outside of rules. Scroll to the custom section of the keyboard and tap “Add a comment” to create new comments in your code. - The coding editor is now wider on iPad to help you see more code at once. That’s it for now! We cannot wait to see what you will create with all the new features. If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

You are getting a quick bug fix in this release! Previously, when you assign a blank text object to an object variable, the object variable appeared empty. Now, it will say “Text” in the parameter of the object variable. Shoutout to Mr. Incognito for reporting this bug! If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

Reviews of Hopscotch

  • I miss the old version 😢

When I first downloaded the app was like a year ago and it still has the subscription but a few things were free like I got to create and publish games and customize my avatar but now everything needs a SUBSCRIPTION! like seriously now I can’t change my avatar now I can’t create or publish games. I can’t do anything. The only thing I could do is play other peoples games who are more fortunate than me to get a subscription. I don’t really like this new version. I like the old one better where you didn’t have to pay for every single thing. I mean, I think it’s just horrible that you can’t even create games that is so horrible what’s the point of playing a coding app when you can’t even code? And I’ve seen the reviews and all the responses are I’m sorry, but we need this to pay the bills and stuff. Well I’m pretty sure that you were paying the bills just fine last time all I’m saying is not every kid is fortunate, but can you just please lower the prices just a littleAnd the only reason I’m rating it three stars is because I understand not every game can be free and the old version was pretty cool
  • Amazing!!!

I started using this app about a year ago and I got confused in the beginning. But I came back and I understand how it works now. It’s much better than Tynker and Scratch, because you can make people pay in game currency to earn in game items! And most importantly YOU CAN MAKE IT SAVE PROGRESS (oh. The rewards from the game also stays.)! I do have a suggestion though: In Tynker and Scratch, I can use variables much easier, so… can you fix that? Other than that, it’s wonderful! Ps, struggling to get your games noticed? Try planting seeds on your game, this makes it appear in the most planted section, AND you appear on the leaderboard. This game is awesome! You should get it to play and create games!
  • Awesome app! A few suggestions.

I tend to have at least 3 hours a day on this app. I love the fact there aren’t too many tutorials and that it encourages people to figure it out themselves. There are so many great tools such as variables, “check once if,” and music. Although this app has so many options to create pretty much any game you would want, there is one problem… the reason I downloaded this app in the first place. The shark tank interview. As said in the demonstration, kids were encouraged to make money, through seeds, but instead, kids are only losing money. (If they want the subscription.) I know that the old system will not be added, but I would ask that you would take into consideration adding a comment section to each game. This would help kids to learn by having others give suggestions on how to improve. This would also allow a sense of community to develop around a developer or their game. Two more things, the ability to see the version history of a published game and a sequel system to create direct sequels to a past game you’ve created. So that’s pretty much it. I hope that you guys at least take one of these things into consideration and turn my 4 star review into 5 stars once again. Thanks for reading!
