Instead, the developer has updated the "free" version of the app instead, which has an in-app purchase for getting rid of the ads.
This is ridiculous, early paid supporters get left out in the rain of a major 2017 revamp of the app, and are stuck with either staying with the old-2016 version or dealing with the ads of the "free" 2017 version.
Suggestion: either update the Ad-Free version of the app with the same respective purchases, or enter the Ad-Free Paid users into the in-app purchases section of the "free Air Drop" version
