Very cool idea
I love the triangle character he’s cool. I wish there was a photo mode so we can take photos of him and the dragon with the city as a background because when I take a photo it messes up the level and I have to restart, but otherwise good job. 🐉❤️
An immersive experience
This app is more than an AR art trail; it’s an immersive meditation on place. The combination of music, voices and visuals invites you to slow down, notice your surroundings, and hear Indigenous stories about places and language. It can’t be rushed, and that’s one of its best features. So far, I’ve done the introduction with Welcome to Country and the RMIT journey, and looking forward to doing more!

Great experience
Weather in Melbourne last weekend was perfect for this experience. We found this online, read through how to prepare for play and spent a day in the city.
The experience is long and we had to stop for lunch but had planned to visit a new sandwich shop anyway.
It was lovely to hear all of the different views on places we had been before and also to discover some we hadn’t.
Playing the character in Croft Alley was just like being in a movie. Recommend this as something to add to a day out in the city.

Our great adventure
Yesterday, we traveled through Melbourne listening and playing this lovely experience.
We enjoy exploring the city and have been looking for new experiences that in between lockdown to get out and about.
The indigenous stories and reveal at the end was a surprise - we had no idea!
Also recommend you have a play with the app before you head into town as it does things a little differently...

Take your time.
This app was inconvenient at first then as I got deeper into the experience I started to slow down and notice small details. Good headphones made a difference as the soundtrack really sets the mood and listening is important to making it work for you. Slow down and enjoy the show.
Doesn’t work
Firstly why is the text when you open the app hidden behind black shape. I can’t read it if there’s stuff covering it.
The app struggles to find the floor. When it finally does some shapes appear, but they disappear if I move the phone slightly. Then it searches for the floor again.

A few usability issues
It is disappointing to see that such a beautiful app which has taken such care in its visual design and aesthetic has clearly had very little real world testing before release
As I tried to play the introduction, I just saw pulsating headphones. I’m not sure who thought it was a good idea to not put a progress bar or even copy and paste the script to make some closed captions. Even though my volume was all the way up, it simply would not play. I then realised that by flicking my silent switch on the side of my phone, the sound played. It’s 2021, I don’t know who keeps their phone on anything but vibrate these days so I have no doubt this has been the experience of countless others.
Then, I make it through the 8-minute long introduction which is needlessly vague and frustrating. It is labelled “instructions” but is nothing of the sort. The actual instructions appear after the introduction - these aren’t in the app but are a webpage telling me to travel to Parliament station to begin. If there are 64 ways of being, why do I need to begin at the first one? This is just an unnecessary hurdle and makes the app even less accessible to those who are already in Melbourne.
Unfortunately I can’t make it to Parliament today, but who knows - maybe in a few months I’ll remember this app and give it another go.

An absolute waste of time DON’T DOWNLOAD.
I downloaded this app after promotion by City of Melbourne as a good way to explore the city with new eyes. What a crock!! It would not work beyond the steps of Parliament House. I wasted probably about 30-45 minutes trying to get it to do something other than play the Introduction. I restarted several times to try to get it to work but could not move past the 8 minute Introduction (skip it) to get onto the so called Tour. After more than 30 minutes on steps of Parliament, I gave up and used Google to find some places of interest and off I went. I’m deleting the useless app.

It was NOT a network access problem - I ditched the app and used Google Maps.
Patently, it was something else - the app didn’t progress from Introduction.

Really beautiful experience
This is a lovely way to explore Melbourne! The augmented reality experiences are really beautiful and you get a sense of history and place at each location. It’s an art experience so it is t like a tour guide, but I liked the sense of mystery and possibility of exploring each location. Playing the wall at bar americano was fun too!
