When I first downloaded and paid for the app I thought I’d maybe try it out and delete it. Full disclosure I downloaded it bc I’m a Helen Owen fan. Turns out, I started using it daily and added the shortcut to my phone so I use their camera instead of the iPhone one. The shortcut brings you right to their camera, and you can take photos with the filter already picked too. It makes my photos look way better and there’s just great editing features to really curate the exact look you’re going for.
I’m a photographer as a hobby, so I’m used to using Lightroom and that’s why I thought I wouldn’t use this, but for how easy and quick this is I’ve been using it way more than I thought I would. I mainly take landscape photos and wish I did more portrait stuff bc I think it would be even better for that. I love this app and I’m so excited that they made it. Didn’t know I needed it, but definitely never deleting it. Thank you Helen and Zack!!!
Also, if you guys happen to see this, I think it would be incredible if you guys shared the process that went into building your app and how you did it from day 0 to launch and executed your idea. So many people have ideas and don’t know how to do what you guys did. I would watch every single bit of content about how you guys brought this to life and I’m sure many others would find it valuable too! No small thing to launch an app and make it successful!! You guys must be so psyched!!!
I have loved using the phlow app ever since discovering it! The app is super user friendly and I love how it not only gives you so many "present" options for different settings, but also SO many functions for adjusting the feel and look of your photos. As I have found a new passion for photography/videography, the app was a simple and approachable way for me to get started. From scenic photos, to snapping fun food pics, and capturing magic moments with friends, I highly recommend everyone go check out (and download) the app for themselves!
This app has changed the game for a fellow photographer! I do a lot of traveling and a lot of photography of where I go and who I’m with and I have to say that the best app that has ever come out was the this one - especially if you don’t have your camera handy or at the very least, you want to post a really quick story that has the quality of a professional camera and fast easy to use editing features, just all right in your own phone. I can’t recommend this enough!!! Don’t believe me? Download the app and leave your cameras at home for your next trip or special event to see for yourself! When this app works, I love it. But when it is buggy, it is the most frustrating thing to deal with. I’ve lost photo opportunities more times than I can count because it completely screws up my exposure, either completely overexposed or underexposed and no amount of editing can bring it back. Notably, this seems to happen most often when I open from the Lock Screen widget so I’ve completely stopped doing that, but even when I unlock my phone and open the app regularly, there have still been instances where this happens and I have no idea why.
Now, I’m trying to use the crop tool and it’s literally cropping in every way other than I actually want to crop. It’s just randomly cropping the image no matter what I do.
Great app, but definitely frustrating to use about 60% of the time.

Hi Fit! First off, thanks for writing in and bringing your issues to our attention. Phlow is a complex app and very tricky to build. But the thing that keeps us up at night the most, is that we can't account for the different variables associated with every device using Phlow. We don't put out a new version without thorough testing and we haven't experienced any of these issues on our end or in our testing, but this does not make it ok. Every device is different which makes it tough to pinpoint where an issue is going wrong on your device. We would love to chat with you and see if we can diagnose the issue. If you follow Helen and/or Zack, you know they have an impeccable eye and talent for creating stunning images and videos. But even if you discovered Phlow in another way - use it for a few days & you will realize you never have to use another editing app ever again.
The app is seamless to use and creates beautiful images and videos with the iPhone that honestly blow my mind. I was getting fatigued with the certain look that iPhone photos have over the years and as a follower of Helen’s I always thought she used a professional camera. But when she shared that she and Zack developed this tool and all of their content was shot with it I was super intrigued.
However, I didn’t pull the trigger until I saw their content explaining how it worked and how easy it was to use. So I did the free trial and after day 1 I was sold. I deleted all my other photo apps and only use Phlow. I get so many compliments on the content I’ve created with it so far and I’m just getting started. Can’t wait to use it for years to come!!
Phlow is absolutely the BEST app for capturing and editing photos and videos. The quality is superb, and the presets (editing tools) elevate your photos and videos like no other app. I’ve had my share of apps, and I would find myself having to use multiple apps to edit one photo or video to give it the feel and look I wanted it to. Since downloading Phlow, I shoot and edit all in one place, and everyone always asks what digital or film camera I use for my photos — it is that good! I highly recommend it! 10/10!
I have always had a love for presets to make the editing process easier and to give my pictures a cohesive look. I’ve purchased probably 5 popular preset collections so far and Phlow has exceeded all my expectations. I used to love their presets in the Lightroom app but always felt adding presets to videos would take everything to the next level! Low and behold, this is what Phlow has done and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed. People always ask me what professional camera I use to take pictures and I always tell them, it’s not that, it’s just my IPhone and the power of Phlow. I would say it’s the best investment out there, but the price is so reasonable and fair that I wouldn’t say it’s really an investment. It’s 1/3 the price of what I used to pay for Lightroom. All around amazing things to say about Phlow.
I’ve been a long time admirer of Helen and her beautiful way of documenting her life for the world to see, and so when I found out that she was creating an app that allowed us to edit like her and Zack, well that was literally the best news EVER. I love taking pictures of the world around me, but I really love how phlowapp allows me to enhance the photos in a way that makes them look like they just came out of Condé Nast or an editorial magazine. It’s everything and more. And the detail of options on how to edit the photo and videos?! Magical. The quality of photos? Incredible. It’s everything you’d want and more. Thank you Helen and Zack for putting so much love into this app for all of us to have so much fun with it. If you don’t have it, GET IT.
Downloaded this the other day as I have the fujifilm x100vi on back order. Honestly this app is making me question whether or not I need the camera. Photos turn out awesome. I prefer to actually take it right in the app as opposed to just editing it. Videos turn out incredible too. I think it’s tough to use IG filters for a video as the video always looks terrible. Would absolutely recommend this if you are looking for a good app to shoot through!
I love this app, initially I saw the reviews on Instagram saying how the developers were aiming for Phlow to be a “pocket sized Fuji film” and it was exactly that phrase that brought me to download Phlow in my time of need. I was going to a festival and forgot to check camera restrictions, while I frantically looked for a digital camera to buy on the day, I opted to try Phlow instead and was so beyond pleased and quickly impressed by the quality of my photos and videos. Phlow allowed me to shoot and edit in Raw and allowed me to create photos as if I were shooting on my camera. Even after a day’s use there are still so many settings to be explored and I’ve never been more excited to try to dive deeper into the app and use it for all my travels when I do not wish to carry my heavy duty camera. Highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to shoot beautiful photos without the hassle of cameras!
