A brand new onboarding flow has arrived! New users will be prompted to complete their profile by entering their username, profile picture, display name and location. Existing users who are just upgrading to this version will also go through the onboarding once. Other feature improvements: - The Following Feed is now fully functional. You can view posts from photographers you follow in reverse chronological order. No algorithm. - You can now define your location by searching for it! You can type any city, region and country around the world, and we will give you search results. With this more robust location feature, we are preparing to create features to meet local photographers through Newgrain! Unique Usernames are here! You can now choose your own unique account username, and find other photographers by searching for theirs. We've assigned a username to the 8000 existing Newgrain accounts. To update your username, go to "Edit Profile" and then to "Username". This is a big step towards making it easier for users to discover photographers, and overall towards making Newgrain feel more social and engaging. In this update, we’ve made a few improvements to the app interface to make Newgrain easier to use! Feature Improvements: - We’ve moved the “Notifications” page (previously on the top right of the feed) to a standalone tab in the main navigation bar! We had noticed that a lot of users did not know it existed, so we’re now experimenting with this new position. - We’ve added timestamps (“yesterday”, “a week ago”…) to notifications, so you know when you’ve received them - We’ve moved the buttons to “My Gear” and “My Rolls” to the profile tab! This makes it a lot easier to access these pages. - We’ve added icons (camera, film stock, lens, scanners…) to the selector menus in the New Post and Edit profile pages - We’re now sorting the list of Newgrain Plus members in the Discover tab by membership date, so you see the people who have joined Plus the latest at the top - Added the ability to upgrade to Newgrain Plus directly from the My Gear page Bug fixes - Fixed bug that did not downgrade account if user cancelled Plus subscription - Fixed the height of the top bar in My Gear We’d love to hear your feedback. Officially releasing: NEWGRAIN PLUS! You can now finally join Newgrain Plus directly through the app, with an in-app payment. In this update, we’ve polished some of the Newgrain Plus features! Please note that it is still not possible to upgrade to Newgrain Plus through the app yet, but this is coming very soon. New features: - If you haven’t saved a camera, lens, or scanner in My Gear yet, a little message will show up when creating a new post and selecting an item, encouraging you to do so! Feature improvements: - In Advanced sample photo filters: you will now only see “Format” options that correspond to the film stock’s available formats - Newgrain Plus users now have a Crown badge displayed next to their name everywhere in the app! (In the Feed, Comments, Likes, Following and Followers pages) - Users who are not Newgrain Plus members are now limited to 3 Rolls (this was planned, but had not been properly implemented in the app) Bug fixes: - The “Add lens” button in the New Lens page now works properly We’d love to hear your feedback. In this update, we introduce the Lens index! Now, when making a new post, you will choose from a list of lenses instead of typing it. If you don’t see your lens in the list, just add it by clicking the “+” on the top right of the screen, and we will take it as input to expand the index. We still have a lot of work to do to clean this index, as there are a lot of duplicates and lenses without any maker information. Also, My Gear with multiple elements is now fully running - just select your cameras, lenses, and scanners from the lists, and these will show at the top of the lists when making a new post! What’s Next: - We still have problems setting up the subscription for Newgrain Plus, but will try releasing the official subscription and paywall it as soon as we can.

In this update, we introduce a new section called My Roll: a personal home for your film photos. Rolls are private albums which only you can see, which contain information such as film stock, camera, etc… and from which you can directly post to Newgrain! Feature improvements: - You can now add multiple cameras, lenses, and scanners to My Gear! You are currently limited to 2 each, but you will soon be able to upgrade to Newgrain Plus directly from the app, allowing you to have unlimited Gear. - We are temporarily introducing advanced filtering in film stock Sample Photos, which means you can narrow down your search according to Format, Push/Pull, Expired and Developing Method. This will be a Plus feature in the near future. - Newgrain Picks photos will now be displayed in the correct order - An optional “City” field was added to the New Lab page - “Format” was made a mandatory field when creating a new film stock Design improvements: - Post titles are now smaller in the post page - Spacing between the elements has been slightly reduced - A pencil icon has been added to the “Edit Profile” button - The “More” menu icon was changed - The Upload button is now sticky at the bottom of the New Post page - The “Allow curation” description part of New Post was made clearer What’s Next: - We will soon be releasing a new update to complete this one.
