Reviews of Opioid Conversion Calculator

  • In accurate conversions.

I downloaded the app as a alternative to the old CDC guideline app, which is no longer available for download. I ran it through a couple of calculations. It calculated that hydromorphone 4 mg = 20 MME. This is incorrect as the answer should have been 16 MME. Also, oxymorphone is missing from the conversion list. It is still a medication and it does still exist. There should be a tool for calculating its conversion. Very poorly researched, very misleading.

    Developer Response

Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify that the app is based on extensive research, drawing from dozens of papers, expert opinions, and various international guidelines. While I understand that locally in the United States a 4:1 hydromorphone-to-MME conversion might be common, most global guidelines, including those recommended by many experts, suggest a 5:1 ratio, which is what the app follows. It's important to note that opioid conversion is not an exact science, and each patient needs to be considered individually, with adjustments made based on clinical judgment. As for oxymorphone, you're absolutely right—it’s still in use, and we can certainly look into adding it. We genuinely appreciate feedback that helps us improve, and we encourage users to share suggestions through our in-app feedback portal so we can address concerns directly and continue making this the best resource possible. A 1-star review is disheartening, but we are committed to improving based on your insights. Thanks again for your input.
