I believe the app and a possible discount helps you to drive safer. There are times when I’m driving my 1999 vehicle which does not have Bluetooth capabilities and I start a phone conversation or start a podcast on my phone before I drive and it dings me for distractions even if I don’t touch my phone when I’m driving.

I will soon find out what my final discount will be after 3 months of using the service. I do think this will save accidents and lives. Maybe FB can request state funding in a few years after the trends of speeding and bad accidents are reduced by this. 😂 I know, not a snow balls chance of happening but in theory it seems reasonable.

Not a fair tracking of your driving.

Just got this about 3 weeks ago. I don’t speed break hard or use any devices while driving period. So my score should be 100%. I just found out I was getting dinged for distraction because my phone was being used by my grandson when I was driving. There is a selection that you n enter to show someone else was using your phone while you were driving. But it still counts against you as a distraction. So it’s not honesty tracking you but is constantly dinging you for something you are not doing. I would not recommend this program till they fix this feature. I got this to save money on my insurance but if it’s going to unfairly ding me for something I’m not doing then it’s not going to save me any money and isn’t worth the time and effort to have this program. Good idea but doesn’t track fairly. I would not recommend this to a friend. Called support and they could offer no help or fix the errors.

Buggy Interface

Love the app, but the trips functionality is bugged where none of the days shows up, and half the trips are missing

Encourages Dangerously unsafe behavior

Their algorithm penalizes you greatly (50%) for even one ‘harsh breaking’ event per trip. Additionally, you cannot safely stop at a traffic light as it changes from green to red without incurring a penalty in normal traffic flow. Surely they could differentiate between other maneuvers and stopping at lights (they know where they are). The only way to avoid a penalty is to blow through the light! Completely the wrong behavior modification! If insurance companies knew that this app encourages unsafe behavior at intersections, would they still endorse it?

Good thing

This is a good plan. Keeps me mindful of my driving safety or lack thereof. At my age safety is a major concern.

Okay App for Driving

The app does appear to help reduce our insurance cost. As others have mentioned, the impact of a single hard brake event will affect you score. This impact seems to be the same if trip is 1 mile or 100 miles.
The most frustrating thing is that with two people in the same car, it’s a 50/50 chance of who gets scored. Many times the passenger gets scored poorly because they are using their phone. The app should allow users to change the driver, not just select driver/passenger.

Not User Friendly

We have several drivers in my family who drive my car. When we get in it automatically connects to my daughter's phone. Every morning when we leave she has to turn off her bluetooth and then I have to connect my phone, which is a pain becuase you have to push and hold the button on the drivology receiver to connect it. There needs to be a way to specify who is the main driver of a vehicle so it can automatically connect to that phone.

Dangerous App

Overall, this app works fairly well. I appreciate that it makes me conscious of my speed and phone usage while driving. That being said, there are a some issues that actually encourage unsafe driving, hence the 1 star rating. The hard braking detection algorithm is horrible. My short commute to work is all highway speed (55-65 mph) with 4 stoplights along the route. If any of those lights turn yellow, I have to run it or risk a 1 star rating for the drive. It does not matter how conservatively I drive or try to anticipate a potential change to the light. This is so unsafe that I’m uncomfortable adding Driveology to my teenage drivers cars for fear they’ll get into an accident trying to protect their “safety” rating. Also, having to remember to update your trips when you have multiple drivers in the car makes for a horrible user experience.

Can’t detect if it’s you or other drivers

It’s a great way to drive safe but it deducts points from your score even if it’s because of people who just cut in front of you or all of a sudden stops and so you had to brake hard to avoid having an accident. It doesn’t know if it’s your fault or other careless drivers. Also dings you for speeding in some areas where there’s no speed limit and says your speeding when there’s no posted speed limit sign at all. How are we supposed to know that except for obvious areas like curves, school zones, ramps, in town driving where you know to slow down anyways?

I like it BUTTTT!

The issue is I get marks against me because I am driving in traffic and the fool in front of me brakes harder than needed… or the light goes from yellow to red to fast in a 35 mph zone… someone cuts me off and then slows for a turn….
These things happen in my city and really would like feed back
If I drive slower to avoid them then MORE cut in line so slowing isn’t the answer
