User Reviews: Fruit Patch App

  • Clear and immediately useful

I live in an urban lot in MD and have wanted to know if it is possible to grow fruit trees in my space. Having said that I am busy and don’t want to spend the hundreds of dollars that landscape designers want to come out and consult for planting options. This app provides clear-cut recommendations that I found easy to follow and well-reasoned. The detailed artwork and descriptions of the plants was helpful and built my confidence that these people know what they are talking about. For 99 cents this is money well spent. I left some space in my yard to see what the next release might contain - possibly culinary mushrooms?
  • Clear and Easy-To Use

I love this app! I have done some gardening before and have always wanted to get into fruit trees but the prospect has been intimidating for me. This app made the selection process easy and straightforward - I don’t want 1000 options but a manageable number of them that are proven to work. Knowing ahead of time that the trees would produce fruit in a year or two also made the decision to buy them from the nursery easier since I know it won’t be 10 years before I can enjoy the rewards.
  • Perfect Fit

I’ve been wondering what fruits would grow well in our area and appreciate finding an app that narrows the wide range of choices down. When I look at the nursery catalogs it all looks and sounds good but know from experience that many do not thrive here in the east even though they are rated for our zone.
  • Good? start…

Enter your zip code, immediate purchase. Only offered 4 fruit trees for my choices of patches (farmland Kansas) and same culinary choices, pollinators for each. Hopefully this app will expand their info base.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the valuable feedback - we have adjusted the app since the beta release to function with a more straightforward purchase process and to include additional fruit options. Additional guild composition configurations are also on the road map!
  • Immediately Asks For Purchase

Once you download this app there is a short video and then it asks for your zip code. After putting in your zip code it immediately ask you to purchase designs. There are no sample designs, no intro to how the app really works. They simply just made the app itself an in app purchase likely to avoid some of Apple’s fees. I would have liked to give it a try, but I need more than what was MAYBE a 10s video.

    Developer Response

Thanks for taking the time to provide your thoughts - we have incorporated these points into our new release by streamlining the purchase process and providing a "getting started" page right up front to guide you through the process.
