Small database; USA only
Great concept, but not very useful in the USA unless you live in a major city, and even then expect only a fraction of local places to be listed. Outside the USA it is completely useless. The developers need to work harder to add more locations instead of relying on their paying users to add them. I make this negative review in kindness, because I really would like this to be a massive, global database of healthy food, and hope this is helpful criticism.Show lessQ ✨

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this feedback. We are admittedly a really small team still, just a few of us, but working hard to change that so we can do big things. The research is steady and we are adding as much as we can as quickly as we can and very much intend to eventually work on other countries, as well as improve our US coverage. This is no reflection on the use of the app… I’m sure it works well. This app was featured today, 3/6/24 as free on App Advice. However, despite their “easy” instructions, I cannot figure out! There is supposed to be no charges for the lifetime version but where is that option? It said to unlock the paywall tap “Unlock Locavore”, “view other plans”.. then select the “Lifetime $0.00” option to redeem… I would like this app but I can’t seem to find these options 🤨Show lessShopNB

Hi Shop NB. We are disappointed in an honest, but detrimental testing error that ended up misaligning the AppAdvice instructions with the actual user experience when the promotion first started. It was completely on us. We do believe we have built a really good app that exists behind this mistake, that we have since resolved, and we would love to get another chance at a review from you once you have had a chance to use the app. Could you please provide your email to info@maize.app so we can manually add you to our "free for life" list? Fantastic idea but only two restaurants in my area. I was hoping to find places I could buy locally sourced food like produce and eggs.
The app needs work too. Words are truncated and sometimes unreadable because they start off the screen along with some of the graphics that do the same. iPhone 13proShow lessConeboy

We apologize for the limited results in your area. We only just started this project last fall, and with our small team we are doing research as fast as we can. We would love to know where you are located so we can focus on your area, and we can specifically focus on eggs and produce for you. We are based in Madison, WI, for example, and we have over 500 business locations and just as many products listed throughout Wisconsin. Our intention is to do this in every state. This app is an answer to my local-food-loving prayers! I’ve spent countless hours researching healthy eating options, especially while traveling. Ultimately, I discover that “organic, free-range, farm-to-table” are often marketing cover-up phrases for conventionally grown, pesticide-laden, and unethically raised food products.
