Help Minder is an innovative mobile app designed to enhance security and support for individuals in various situations by connecting them with designated friends and family, known as Helpers. Users can assume the role of an Alerter, a Helper, or both, providing a flexible solution for personal safety and emergency communication.
Core Functionality
Alerters are users who may need to notify Helpers in case of emergencies. An Alerter can be:
A senior or disabled person living independently who needs to notify Helpers when assistance is required.
A child away from their parents who needs to alert family members during concerning situations.
Anyone entering potentially risky scenarios, like hiking, meeting strangers, or similar situations.
Helpers are individuals who agree to be notified when an Alerter triggers an alert. Helpers can be app users or added via email or phone number, receiving alerts even without the app. Notifications include the Alerter's location and, depending on the alert type, additional information like images, text, or voice messages.
Types of Alerts
Need Help Alert: This is the default alert, triggered by pressing the large red “Need Help” button in the app, using Siri commands, calling a registered landline, or via Alexa.
Check-In Alert: Alerters can set up alerts requiring them to check in at specified intervals. If they fail to check in, Helpers are notified that the Alerter has not checked in.
Delayed Alert: Alerters set a timer, and if not canceled within the timeframe, Helpers are notified with additional information, such as preset voice messages, text, or images explaining the situation.
Alert Triggering Methods
App Interaction: Press the red "Need Help" button, record a message, or use home screen widgets.
Voice Commands: Use Siri with custom phrases to trigger alerts.
Check-In and Delayed Alerts: Automatically triggered if check-ins are missed or timers are not canceled.
Alexa Integration: Trigger alerts via the Help Minder Skill for Alexa.
Landline Call: Call the Help Minder Land Line Caller ID number from a registered landline to trigger alerts.
Notification Methods
Helpers are notified promptly through:
In-App Push Notifications: These alerts override silent settings on Helpers’ phones.
Email: Alerts sent to Helpers' registered email addresses.
Phone Calls and SMS: Helpers receive calls and text messages for direct and immediate communication.
User Scenarios
Help Minder is versatile and adaptable to different user scenarios:
Seniors and Disabled Individuals: Living independently becomes more secure with instant notification to trusted Helpers when assistance is needed.
Children and Teens: Young users can notify parents or guardians in any concerning situation.
Adventurers and Travelers: Set up alerts before entering risky scenarios, such as hiking or traveling alone, ensuring someone is notified if something goes wrong.

Great solution for my mother and her sister that each love alone. They can use the check in alert to make sure they confirm throughout the day that they are doing well and not in need of help and also have access to the instant alert using the app, Siri, or Alexa to trigger the alert. They are each other's helpers and others in the family are helpers too. Easy to setup and explain to them how to use.
