Reviews of Crazy Gears Box

  • It’s alright. Simple, but expansive.

If a bare minimum 3D puzzle game is what you’re looking for, this might be what you want. I downloaded it cuz I wanted more practice with 3d visualization, and it provides that at least. I was originally trying to find a 3D version of Flow/Pipes/Connect but that doesn’t seem to exist anymore 😢. But this game is still good at helping you think in 3D. The basic idea is super simple, just place some gears on faces of a cube to get them all turning. You’re given specific places on the cube gears can be placed, and given a certain amount of gears of a few different sizes. At first it’s so simple it’s mindless, but the levels get progressively harder and eventually really make you think about it. And there’s a TON of levels. The background music is nice, and soothing. If you want a game giving you practice with great ratios, this ain’t it. The three gripes I have are: 1) ads. so annoying. But I get they’re “necessary”. You can only go two or three rounds before having to watch an ad. And then you have to play the game of “where’s the mute button” and then wait a bit before you can play the game of “where’s the X”. 2) when you complete a level, it immediately gives you the ‘congrats’ pop up; then you’re unable to look at the cube anymore. I want to be able to see the cube and move it around to admire my achievement and finally see the end solution from all angles. It would make the game a LOT more satisfying if I could do that. 3) turning the cube to see the different faces, there’s like a hidden axis that can’t be ‘crossed’ or something. Like you’ll be moving it around, pivoting on all the axes, then all of a sudden you can’t pivot any more on one of them and now it just spins on a single axis, and to see the face you were trying to see you have to like ‘unwind’ the cube and turn it a different way to get to the face. It’s just weird and feels sorta buggy. But it’s still an enjoyable game👍
