Description of VoicePro

VoicePro reimagines a space where live audio messages and conversations not only happen in real-time but also get recorded, transcribed, and elegantly organized—think of it like a Slack thread for your voice discussions. Never miss a message, catch-up later in-threads if you can’t join in real time. What VoicePro Offers: • Live Audio Conversations: Engage in real-time discussions, just like traditional voice calls. • Automated Transcription: Every conversation is transcribed, making it easy to search and revisit. • Organized Dialogs: Conversations are neatly organized, fostering a more structured and accessible dialogue. • Seamless Transition: Reply at your own pace, embracing the beauty of asynchronous communication. • Drop-In Anytime: Join ongoing conversations or initiate new ones, creating a dynamic and engaging space. How is it different from existing VoIP apps? Modern messaging and VoIP apps have presented us with two distinct communication modes, each with its own set of advantages and drawbacks: • Voice Calls: Fast-paced, real-time communication, but often too intrusive and lacking persistence unless fully recorded. • Voice Messages: Convenient, but asynchronous, leading to a slower feedback loop, sporadic responses, and a lack of organization around specific topics or themes. VoicePro brings best of both worlds combining a live audio conversation with async messages that seamlessly transforms into an organized discussion thread

  • Many shortcomings despite working.

17 August 2024: I found this to be a relatively good PTT phone-type agnostic app for those that need a walkie-talkie type app (like most phones use to have); however, there are two glaring issues which I feel despite info being encrypted that are extremely concerning:

    (1) There does not seem to be a way to talk back and forth with unless they are an existing contact within your contacts list. The app wants you to approve unbridled accesv to ALL CONTACTS.

    (2) If you grant access to your contacts and then initiate a connect via your contacts, the app not only pulls up contacts; but, BLOCKED NUMBERS AS WELL. The last thing I want VoicePro to do is pull all contacts including blocked off phone numbers to store on their side of the fence. I don’t want all of my contacts being over there!

This app needs to be developed so that only selected contact phone numbers can be used by the user’s designation … preferably adding the 2nd party phone number as a separate data store that it can use as opposed to the all-or-nothing access to you contacts.

The app works; however, until these security concerns are addressed, especially blocked numbers, I will never rate the app above three stars.

Thank you for your feedback! We have the option to add friends via @nickname even if contact import is disabled.
  • Nicely done

Neat app that combines voice messaging and walkie talkie. Like how messages organized into threads similarly to Slack. One of the best Walkie Talkie apps out there.
  • Unique combination

I installed this to try out as a Walkie talkie, but this app is much more than that. I realized I could easily transition into a regular call if my friend was up to it, and all of our conversations are transcribed there, so I can easily catch up on whatever I may have missed in a group chat.
One thing I’m missing is ability to stay “online” (able to receive incoming push to talk audio) and not see the blue overhead on top of iOS UI - but I guess it’s Apple's limitation if anything…
