What are mental models and cognitive biases?
Picture this – your brain is like a massive toolshed. Each tool (or set of tools) represents a way of understanding the world. Some tools are perfect for some jobs (like a hammer for a nail) and terrible for others (ever tried cutting a tomato with a hammer? Spoiler alert: It's messy!).
Each of these tools in your cerebral toolshed is what we call a "mental model". These are frameworks or blueprints that help us make sense of the world, make decisions, and solve problems. For example, the "supply and demand" mental model helps us understand why those concert tickets are so darn expensive!
Now, imagine if sometimes, when reaching into your toolshed, your hand has a sneaky little magnet that draws it to a particular tool, even if it's not the best for the job. That sneaky magnet? That's a cognitive bias. It's a predictable pattern where our judgment goes a tad awry.
For instance, ever noticed how you might love a song just because it's constantly on the radio? Even if initially you weren't a fan? Or, have you ever bought a gigantic pack of cookies, telling yourself you'll just eat one a day, but then find the empty packet next to you while binge-watching your favorite show? Yep, that’s a bias right there. Our brain says, "Future me will TOTALLY have more self-control", but present you says, "I mean... just one more cookie can't hurt, right?"
We’ll help you master these tools and magnets so you can make better decisions and live a better life.

Fantastic concept executed perfectly. Learning 52 cognitive biases is overwhelming. Learning one cognitive bias a week is easy.
The content is also top notch, including the examples, applications and misapplications. The reminders/notifications and self reflections provide enough repetitions to make the concepts stick.
I’m at week 42, so just 10 weeks to go. Looking forward to repeating it all again in following years. Highly recommended.
