  • Missing Books

Love the app but some books appear to be missing. Would be great to have the option to add books that are missing from search.
  • Platform is exactly what I’m looking for.

I’ve tried multiple Goodreads alternatives and had luck with Literal until they announced the app is in maintenance mode with no further work being done, and an app with more than a year between updates that feels sluggish. Enter Italic Type. Beautiful UI, core features are all there, and I’m ready to once again make a switch off GR, but the app has some minor UI quirks that just feel strange to me and a lack of dark mode (your desktop site supports this!) doesn’t jive with me in 2024. I expect mediocre, untouched, archaic design with GR, but yall have it 95% in the bag! The second dark mode hits the app, I’m ready to take the plunge as well as all the other folks I know eager to detach from GR/Amazon.

Great work all in all, and hope to see the platform continue to evolve and not regress like Literal.

  • Exactly what I’ve been looking for

I have been looking for an app for years that could keep my reading organized in a way that wasn’t messy with ads and other distractions. I’ve been keeping a reading list in Evernote but that has been less than ideal for many reasons. I’m so excited to make Italic Type my new home and start to leverage more of their thoughtful features, like starting a book club! My wife and I have been talking about this for years, so this is perfect ❤️

  • Beautifully Designed For Readers

I’ve been an Italic Type member for years and am so happy there’s an app now! It helps me keep track of what I am currently reading, what I have read, and my TBR list. I love the notes feature for each book where I can write quotes, ideas, impressions, etc as I go. It is so thoughtfully made, I really believe every reader will love and appreciate it.

  • Books and community

I love reading but getting myself to do it isn’t easy. I love that I can read with others on this app; and create micro-communities with friends. Plus, it LOOKS GREAT!!!
  • Easy to use

I really love the Italic Type app to keep track of my books. It’s easy to use, there are no ads, and one huge perk is that it’s a women-owned small business.
  • A great app

I love that Italic Type helps me connect to my friends through books! Reading together is such a joy and Italic Type makes it so simple
  • For actual readers

Where goodreads feels like a marketing tool, italic type is a resource to help me be a more intentional reader. I love everything about it - the interface, the community of real readers, and the reminder that reading is for me and not for social clout.
  • An app that enhances your reading life

I love Italic Type and am thrilled about the app! Besides the beautiful and clean design, I love that it enhances your reading life instead of being another app to distract you. No ads. No random content being served to you. It helps you focus on what you want to read, not what everyone else is reading. And it lets you go deeper with your reading by tracking lists and quotes and thoughts all in one place. I can’t say enough great things about how wonderful this app this!

  • Been waiting all my life for this

Italic Type is such a massive relief. I gave up on Goodreads many years ago and resorted to tracking my books in a spreadsheet, but now I finally have a calm, well-designed app to rate, review, and discuss books. It’s such a breath of fresh air.
