I theory a good idea but didn’t quite work as I hoped

I theory a good idea but didn’t quite work as I hoped, I downloaded this for an autistic student to help him visualise how many days until the end of term, summer holidays etc.

The visualiser didn't work as hoped e.g. The visual showed 3 blocks for an event in October (7 months away) so didn’t really help him to visualise the time. I may have been doing something wrong.. I would love to use the app if I could get the blocks/units visualising in the way that is shown in the photos in the App Store.
