Good, but could be better (Reading Specialist)
This is a good app for home use to get in the required 20 minutes of reading 5 days a week. However, it’s not great for use in the classroom, but could be adapted. (See downside below)
Downside - There are no comprehension questions with these books! In order to truly be a wonderful, useful education app, this app needs comprehension questions with its stories.
Classroom teachers could have students write down all of the words they don’t know in a vocabulary/word work notebook. Teachers could also create a worksheet, dry erase sheet, or journal paper that has students write down the title, a few bullet points about what they learned, any words they didn’t know, and a 1-5 star rating for the book, based on how much the student enjoyed the book.
Target age for the app is 6-8, and says 4+. It’s user friendly, and is good for K-2, plus beginning 3rd grade, and 4th/5th graders that are behind on their reading level. Kindergartners will need assistance to read the books, or they can listen to the audio. Advanced 1st graders and on-grade level 2nd graders can read the books silently.
