Beloved theme masking a cash grab center
I’m not one to usually download match 3 games in general, but the original Halloween is one of my favorite movies and I figured “Hey if they were able to get the license, maybe it’ll have more effort behind it”. In reality it really feels like a bare bones, reskinned clone of every other match 3 style game. The character art doesn’t look finished and is often clearly traced assets, and the UI and the backgrounds clash in style, which really loses the Halloween/horror charm. You lose lives quickly to unfair random placements of icons, and the cost of boost items and extra lives vs how many coins you earn per level is inflated to the point of insanity in order to pressure people to spend real money so they can continue playing. This is fine and often the entire point of these free games, but can be annoying to those who refuse to spend money on in-app purchases. I’ll play it maybe once a day and then set it down once all my lives are used up. If the atmosphere and theming was up to par, I’d play far more often despite the gameplay frustrations.honeycakelet

Could be better
First off, I love that there's finally an official game for this classic movie. I love the idea of Michael approaching, the music is fantastic, & the cut scenes are good. But the difficulty is way too high, & there aren’t ANY chances to get boosters without paying. Also, the colors are too muted on the key levels. I get that free apps need ways to make money, but other games have proven that you can do that without making the levels impossible to beat.

The Game fits as a Michael Myers matching game, the house building part can feel a bit strange and can take away from Michael’s horror, but it’s alright. Definitely recommend for Michael fans.CDirectory
