Great Visuals, Nostalgic Gameplay, but may need just a bit more.

This game, Drive Ahead: Carcade, definitely has outstanding visuals. Take the original Drive Ahead’s pixelated look, and make it 3D and GOOD. I especially adore the loading screens and waiting room. Also, can I just say that this game’s music is an obvious bop, something to definitely be expecting here. The gameplay is pretty good and simple. It almost feels like how the original Drive Ahead was somewhere around 8 years ago from what I remember; a small, mainly PVP local game with lots of fun. However, one thing I would argument about this game, shared by many other reviews, is how it feels slightly rushed. I understand that a lot of management has been put to the original Drive Ahead’s seasons and events and other things, but this game has only three maps (to my current knowledge as of the date) and a small list of generic vehicles. I look forward to upcoming updates for this game.

Has potential, more content and QOL needed.

While it doesn’t quite hold up to the golden age of the original drive ahead, I find it to be quite enjoyable. I prefer the pixelated look of the original, but this is a tasteful refresh on the look of the original. Game desperately needs more maps/modes and vehicles on top of customization. My biggest gripe though, what really brings this down to three stars is the lack of control options. The buttons are tucked away in the corner and I often find myself thinking I’m pressing the “pedals” and I’m not. Really annoying having big hands and having to choke up my hands on the corners of the screen.

What Happened To The Fun of the Old Game?

I downloaded this hoping it would be a modern rendition of the old Drive Ahead game. However, I’ve been extremely dissatisfied with this version. For one, in the old game, I really enjoyed the huge variety of cars, some would shoot, some were big, some were funny, and that was the best part about the game. Each car was uniquely different and fun, and there were so many options to choose from. In this game however, we only get like 8 of the most basic and least enjoyable options of the last game. I really miss all of the unique cars and outfits, but now it seems like there is no purpose for winning. I don’t want another skin for a car, I just want an entirely different car. I see no point in trying to win if there is no sufficient reward.
