  • Not Worth even the Download

If you want to experience what EA does with content, download this so-called “Silent Hill” game, which essentially translates to a cash grab and microtransactions experience. Terrible use of the Silent Hill IP.

To save you time to have influence in the story, you'll have to purchase points with real money, but they are not cheap… Otherwise, you won't be able to make any progress at all. Even trying to solve the puzzles, you'll have to spend your hard-earned money.

Save the money, buy an old console and an actual Silent Hill game, not this Until Down mock game that uses Silent Hill assets, but you'll have to pay for every part of the story.

Appreciate your feedback and for taking the time to write your review. I wanted to address the misconception that the app is pay not win or that content is behind a paywall. All decisions and all content are free. There is no video or story content behind a paywall. Every day, goals and certain puzzles unlock for free. We’ve even added an additional Mindfulness puzzle available to all users for free last week. You can earn IP for free through completing Arcane and Mindfulness puzzles as you mentioned, but that is not the only way to earn IP. You can also IP through watching video on-demand, joining live and participating in interactive Endure Sequences, claiming daily and weekly goals and more. The notion that users can "win" by paying is generally inaccurate. As you can see, decisions are already in the millions. We are creating a community-based product with the growth of having millions of people participate easily and free. The Influence Point packs are intentionally small to prevent any individual user from overwhelming decisions. Instead, IP packs and the Founder’s Pack are focused on cosmetic unlocks and collections that are completely voluntary and unrelated to narrative control.
  • Long time fan of Silent Hill

The initial launch was buggy, which was disappointing. The puzzles lack challenge if you simply read the instructions and complete the game; I don't really think that counts as a puzzle. However, I am glad to see the series back, and I appreciate the creativity that went into it. I would have given it 3 stars if the launch had been better.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We hear you and are listening. Our premiere day hit a level of scale that we weren't prepared for and broke several systems. We are working on improvements as we speak and there is a new App Update you can download with some fixes implemented. We hope you bear with us and continue to watch the story unfold as we continue to make the experience better.
  • What have you done…

The only thing scarier than Silent Hill is how they butchered it with this money grabbing pit of poo poo.

It’s unbelievable that a franchise this soaked in lore & acclaim has been exposed to this terrible idea for a series entry.

Too many characters in too small a time frame.
Poor voice acting with characters not even being able to convey the right emotion.
Money grabbing tactics that employ a PTW tactic by allowing the user who spends the most to sway the vote in their favor

Thank you for your feedback. The notion that users can 'win' by paying is a misconception. • A Bold Step for the Future of Gaming

Silent Hill: Ascension isn’t a game in the traditional sense, it’s more of a movie/video game hybrid. I love this concept and believe that Genvid is making a very bold, yet good move by developing this game. I’d love to see more like this!

  • Buggy cannot restore purchases

So first off, this game is very buggy. It will prompt you to buy the Founder's Pass. And if you do that, it will never go through. And then when you come back in, it'll ask you to buy it again. And again, the same thing, it won't go through. You can't turn off the subtitles. You have the option to, but it doesn't work. You have no way to use a white skin type. And this thing is horrible.

We truly appreciate your feedback and we are aware of the issues surrounding Founder's Pack and are remedying these problems. You can file a claim for refund with Apple or contact our support team to assist with recovering your purchase. We are working very hard to address an array of issues including the Founder's Pack pop up which is displaying more times than we have intended and are actively working on reducing when that displays in addition to a better subtitle experience. There is a new app update that is available that contains additional improvements and fixes that should improve your experience.
  • Disgraceful

Us fans waited over a decade to get something new for Silent Hill. We thought Konami had put the series to sleep for good.

But then, in 2022 a mysterious Silent Hill transmission seemed like there was light at the end of the tunnel.

The first of the new 800 Silent Hill projects to release, Silent Hill Ascension. This might be one of the most predatory, broken , egregious, tone deaf monstrosity I could ever have thought of.

It feels like they started with series 2 episode 6 or something because the characters had absolutely no build up or establishment, so why would anyone care what happens to them?

The plot itself just terrible melodrama resulting In a nonsensical chase scene where viewers had to swipe the screen and tap quick time events which were arbitrary as nothing changed on screen whether you fail them or pass them.

The monetisation model was cleverly left unannounced until the day of release and now we know why.

A battle pass containing pathetic emotes and character skins which don’t even fit properly on the avatar.

If you thought Downpour lost the plot, this is bar FAR the worst thing to happen to the series.

  • You had the chance for something great. You failed.

I cannot begin to explain the level of disappointment I have in this. In the technical side it is a buggy, broken, barely functioning mess. As a lifelong Silent Hill fan, it’s an absolute insult to the franchise.

A $28 battle pass?!?! For what amounts to essentially 2 minutes of content per day?!?! There’s no incentive to play this or drop a cent into it. We waited almost a decade for new content for one of the most beloved horror IPs of all time, and this is what we get?

Every single person involved in the creation of this needs to go and seriously think about what they’ve done.

Thank you very much for your feedback. In this case, we would love to know what it would take to make your app experience much better. Please let us know!
  • Can we vote to jettison this out of the canon?

Not only is this the worst Silent Hill content I’ve ever seen, and one of the worst pieces of media I’ve ever experienced, but the app is terrible as well. The UI is ugly as sin, everything takes up too much room, the “puzzles” are worse then the bottom of the barrel old school point and click adventure games, and the CEO has so many people around him huffing his farts and saying it smells like daises to realize or care.

Save your time (and your money, dear God especially your money), and do anything else instead. Eating glass would be a more enjoyable experience.

  • Pay to Win video series disguised as a game

Was hopeful for this then it actually dropped and it’s a supposed “game” that’s trying to trick fans into thinking their choices actually matter when we all know the people with the biggest wallets will be the ones to actually make decisions in this. Microtransactions everywhere for an interactive video series. gross.

  • Insulting to Fans

I honestly hate to write negative reviews of things normally. But I couldn’t sit here and not share my distaste with this whole app/game/experience (whatever you want to call it).

When this was announced I was pretty unsure of what to think but tried my best to remain hopeful that it wouldn’t be too bad, possibly even great. But now that I’ve seen the app, attempted (through the glitches and lag) to “play”, and seen the sheer amount of monetization slapped all over, I truly cannot believe this is even real.

Silent Hill is such a beloved franchise and after being practically nonexistent for a decade, it’s so disheartening seeing that THIS is what the devs decided to do for Silent Hill’s big comeback. It feels insulting to the fans that have been playing since the early days back on PS1 & PS2, and is a far cry from resembling Silent Hill at all. It honestly feels and looks more like a generic, poorly written indie horror game with “Silent Hill” slapped on there with some minor Easter eggs thrown in as an attempt to convince the fan base that this is authentic.

I was so optimistic but now I don’t even feel the drive to watch the story play out in any form. Let’s just hope that this does not negatively impact the other Silent Hill projects announced last October as well…
