Panels
Excellent wallpapers
It’s ok (what you’d expect)
I mean it’s a wallpaper app, what more is there to say. HOWEVER, how can a wallpaper app be so mediocre when made by a tech reviewer that has led to many companies (all deservingly tbf) go bust. I mean imo it’s not that deep of course, people make mistakes but I just thought that someone with such experience around tech and products would do better. Anyways imo there is still hope for the app if they can get some more unique wallpapers or what not. Least it’s free 🤷

Next level improvements
The best wallpaper app on the market now, all the improvements to the app make it infinitely better. All the art looks stunning and I will definitely be using this for all my wallpapers in the future.
Great wallpapers and art
The wallpapers and art are some of the best lock screens I’ve seen in a while, great artists collections, but buggy. The app will sometimes just randomly freeze and you will have to restart your phone. I watch quite a few of mkbhd’s videos and they seemed very excited about this so I’m going to be kind about this. Still love this app

Meh
Didn’t jump on this straight away and also didn’t care to much for the uproar. It was like people were being forced to buy this. I just watched the “let’s talk about panels” video and I’ve taken a look and it just pretty meh, if I am honest.
The worst is no preview options so you can’t get a good feel for the wallpaper. A lock and home screen option is in most good apps. The search is too limited, limited colours, include black with is shown as grey, weird. And limited quick word search. The layout of the tiles is just ugly. The art is limited and nothing special, but a preview fiction might help these pop more. I’m gotta give this only two stars for now, needs a lot of work.

Much improved
Full disclose, I never thought the app was that big of a deal, since I could just not use it. But the pricing is now much more accessible. Most wallpapers you can get an SD version for free or an HD version with 1 video ad. You can also buy collections for a few dollars. The only advantage the unlimited subscription has is getting access to all collections and early access to new ones.
Everything else people were making a fuss about was frankly dumb but was addressed too. The app store page now reflects the fact that it's not tracking you all the time, and wallpapers that had some AI involved in its creation are marked as such. I think the UI is good.
My only issue is that I feel like the unlimited subscription doesn't provide enough value for the price. Honestly, If I wanted some collection wallpapers, I'd just buy them. I don't think I'd ever want access to all of them at once. But overall it's obviously a big improvement from before.

This update improved a lot of things
A lot of stuff is available for free and you can support and find artists if you want. There’s an ad free sub for $2 (this saves you from having to watch an ad to unlock high resolution free content), a premium for $12 (unlocks all content) and annual for $50 as well as artists collection that are available for around $8. I think the pricing for premium snd annual could be closer to $6, and I think people should be able to tip the artists too, but that’s just my opinion. I’ve never purchased art before, but from what I’ve seen, it can get pricey, so I don’t think the prices are unreasonable, just not something I could see myself purchasing (besides the ad free mode.) Not for everyone, but a pretty great app overall all. My take is, wallpapers should be cheaper since there’s so much good stuff out there for free, but I understand there are people trying to make a living off their talent.

Glad to be wrong
I was initially really skeptical about this app. I thought the pricing was ridiculous, the ads were obnoxious, and the reqs. to get a decent resolution weren’t worth it. I did think the pushback was excessive, although many of the criticisms were valid. After checking back in today, I’m pleasantly surprised to say that it’s clear that the team is taking in the feedback and building from it. In my opinion, the UI/UX is great, the concept is awesome, and the quality of the wallpapers is top notch. I do wish there was a bit more aviation related options but that’s more of a personal desire than anything being inherently wrong with the product offering. I’ll definitely be using Panels and seeing what cool new designs the artists come up with.

Far from perfect app but great art
The app definitely has some work to do. Would be nice to get more filter options, maybe to define free vs premium. x button for ads is in a weird spot. Previews don’t feel the best, and hard to tell if it’s meant for mobile or desktop.
But at the end of the day it took me a total of 60 seconds, with all the hiccups, to find the coolest wallpaper I’ve seen in months when I usually spend 20+ minutes googling or going through other apps.
If you want good art for your wallpapers give it a try, especially now that they fixed the pricing stuff with the app. You don’t have to pay anything if you don’t want to.
Might consider subscription to the pro version in a few updates depending on what comes out!

Buggy app! Too many ads!!!
The app crashes or freezes all the time. I’m all for adds to help the creators but they’re way too long.
