  • Very good

Using for audiobookshelf. This has been a perfect experience. I purchased the fill features of this and also purchased self player. This one wins by a long shot. More features, great performance, adorable papa plappa.
  • Love the app!!

I just setup audiobookshelf a couple of days ago and found my way to this app and it’s fantastic! Thank you very much for developing and maintaining it. You are a true gentleman and scholar! 😁

However I do have one suggestion for an improvement. How difficult would it be to add a shortcut to the bookmarks from within the player? Right now, only the chapters can be accessed from the player shortcuts. I constantly make bookmarks as I have been known to accidentally tap the progress bar when picking up my phone and completely lose my place in my book. Currently the only way I know to access my bookmarks is to close the MiniPlayer, go back to the book on the Home Screen and then click over to the bookmarks tab.

Hey KaptenKrunch, Thank you for the feedback! This exact feature has already been requested, I‘ll make sure to add it with a future update. Should you have any other feedback or suggestions, feel free to reach out at contact@plappa.me!
  • A great app with a friendly developer.

Plappa works beautifully with Audiobookshelf and I appreciate the support for older iOS versions so my younger kids can use it on an older (and cheaper) iOS device. I had some questions for the dev and he answered them quickly and in a very friendly manner. Love to see projects like these for those of us who want to host our own solutions for our families. Thank you!
  • Great client, one request

I absolutely love the app, works great. The one thing I wish it did was syncing with the stats on audio bookshelf, I’d definitely buy the app then. Otherwise it’s great!
  • Works great!

Does everything one needs to listen to stuff from Audiobookshelf. Love that it syncs with the audiobook place.
  • Amazing app by an awesome developer

I used to use the audio bookshelf app but never liked the UI or UX. Plappa is a beautiful app and feels like a native iOS app with nice UI & UX. My needs are simple and the app for the most part provides all features I need. Probably the only thing missing that I would like is a way to mark certain timestamps with a short note so I can refer back when needed. However that’s not a dealbreaker considering the experience the app offers. Also a big shoutout to the developer. He is responsive and constantly updates the app and incorporates feedback. If you scroll down the reviews you will see that he is receptive and responds to each of them. I had a couple interactions with him on Reddit and it was evident to me that he cares about his users and takes feedback seriously. Overall solid app by a passionate developer and excellent support.

Hey Aion, there’s an option to add Bookmarks with AudioBookShelf (bottom right of the player), but I don’t see why I shouldn’t add something similar for Jellyfin/Emby!
  • Hands down the best

One of the best audiobook player with Apple car play support. Sleek, easy to use UI with a good UX. I’ll support the dev after my current subscription ends. Check it out and the dev seems to be active in Reddit.
  • Feels very professional

The app feels and works as good as something like audible great job there!

I would have liked an option to ignore untrusted certificate warnings on an https connection when setting it up since I use my own internal CA but I just installed the root ca on to the device to bypass that.

    Developer Response

Hey Mack, thank you for your feedback! I definitely see how using HTTPS locally can be annoying when self signed certificates are not trusted, but I feel like installing the root certificate is the more elegant and secure solution. • Beautiful UI, a few missing features

This is THE Audiobookshelf app. It has an absolutely beautiful UI. The official Audiobookshelf mobile app feels cluttered, slow, and old. This app is great, and it mostly works well! There are a few features that I miss from the Audiobookshelf official app that keep me from using this app. Primarily, I wish this app had a slider for fine-tuned control of playback speed instead of a select menu. I like to listen to my audiobooks at occasionally 1.3x or 1.4x speed, but I can not do that with this app.

Over all, it's amazing, but the most important part of an audiobook app -- the playback -- is lacking features. With that one feature I'd be sold.

    Developer Response

Hey leeandjack, thank you for your feedback! I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but there's already an option to define custom values for the playback speed (Settings->Change Playback Rates), maybe that works for you? You could just add 1.3x and 1.4x there to have them appear in the selection menu within the player. I've haven't put a slider for the playback speed as I'm trying to keep the interface as uniform as possible between the iOS app and the CarPlay interface (which doesn't support draggable sliders for safety reasons). • Quite Fantasitc

It is fairly early still in this app’s development, but it’s really great and sure to only get better.
