!!REVIEW IS AT THE BOTTOM FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE GAME!!
Hello! Before you decide to read this review, you might want to grab a notepad and make sure you have a bit of time, for this review will be lengthy. in this review, I will tell you the parts and assets of the game that were good and bad, and how I think they could improve.
Firstly, I want to talk about the physics. I think the game’s physics are pretty decent, and they make the cut and make the game quite playable. I don’t think there is much needed to be changed, but some improvements would be things such as: better missile physics, like pointing where the player will be instead of where they are currently, or improved plane speeds and maneuvering, like making the planes go 600km/h like actual jets or improved stalling and diving (PS: the stalling added in this version is great, and I would love to see it integrated into future games). Overall, this game’s physics are good.
Next, I want to talk about this planes. This time I will get straight to the point: more planes that are free to get. I LOVE the plethora of planes in the Carpet Bombing series, but think if more could be integrated it would be amazing. Some planes that I think would be great are ones such as the B-52, the Mig-29, or even the SR-71. Remember, the more the merrier. I also think that planes with VTOL in real life should be able to hover. Overall, the planes are pretty decent.
In my opinion, the level design is alright. This is only my opinion, but I think it should be changed to match with the other entities (enemies, buildings, trees, etc.) to make the game feel as a whole. I would love to see this improve, even if it is a slight change.
I think the campaign is okay. I honestly think that the levels are decent and the challenges you can face are fine. I would’ve loved to see bosses such as the battleship or carrier from Carpet Bombing 2 (by the way, the best 2D plane game on the App Store), which really gave me a massive challenge (the carrier was SUPER difficult, but at the same time I loved it) keeping me on my toes at the long time. Now for the story. I think it was mediocre at best (no offense). I thought that the storyline made some sense, but I also found myself cringe at some of the things in there. I found the text boxes okay, but I think animations should bring them on screen, or something like that, to give them more pizzazz. On the other hand, I saw some pretty decent jokes and dad jokes while playing the campaign, and thought that the character’s personalities were pretty amazing.
If you were to ask me, I think the enemies in Carpet Bombing 3 are pretty polished and well done, but if you wanted to put an extra cherry on top, you could add opponents such as a SAM turret, an anti-air tank, or a plane with TONS of missiles. The only thing that you might want to improve is the enemy AI, if you have spare time. Overall, the enemies are great.
FEATURES I THINK SHOULD BE ADDED:
-Weapon load-outs that should save, like rockets and less bombs, etc.
-VTOL (already stated in the planes paragraph)
BUGS AND GLITCHES I FOUND:
-Ammo ‘dots’ not showing up for unguided rockets when resuming a endless mode game
-Being able to have more weapons than your max if you save an endless game, reset your skill tree, and resume the game (5 max originally, reset the skill tree, get 2 max, use up to 5 bombs at once in endless, etc.)
-End level text appearing twice in the finish screen
OVERALL REVIEW:
I think that Carpet Bombing 3 is an amazing indie game in the Carpet Bombing series, and the developers should get as much support that they can for all there effort and success game-wise. I think this game is a HUGE improvement from the first game, and I am excited to see the future of this development corporation and this series.
PS: I am up for making more reviews like this if you want!
