Description of Bombaroom

Okay, by ‘shake’ we mean ‘blow up’. Bombaroom enables you to fight epic battles on the rug, sofa or anywhere else you fancy. It’s all thanks to Apple Vision Pro, a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends computer-generated things – in this case, cannons and targets – with the physical world, enabling you to shoot cartoon cannonballs at your sofa or lob munitions around the lawn. It starts simply with a cannon and a single target. But that’s just to get you used to the controls – before long you’ll be trying to blow up pirate ships and castles. It’s particularly amusing when people are walking past, completely unaware of the carnage taking place just a few feet away, or when you manage to place your enemy on something impractical such as a wobbly hedge. Bombaroom is about aiming and getting the right amount of power behind your shot, and that means it’s both easy to pick up and hard to get really good at. It’s a great way to mix a little destructive pleasure into your reality – just don’t worry too much about that castle that’s sprouted up in your kitchen. Features: • Intuitive touch controls for seamless gameplay • Gamepad support • Face a variety of challenging enemies • Master straightforward rules across 30 captivating levels • Eye candy graphics • Take your time and activate slow motion with just one tap

  • A Blast of Fun with Room for Improvement

I've been having a ton of fun with Bombaroom! It's an absolute joy. I love placing my cannon and the opponent around the room creating different challenges and strategies for each level. It brings back memories of playing Hasbro's Heroscape, with its strategic placement and the thrill of battle, but with the modern twist of augmented reality.

However, while the game is a blast, there's a hunger for more. Please make more levels and new challenges. I'm thinking along the lines of canon upgrades and different types of ammo to help with different types of targets (e.g. flaming arrows or exploding cannonballs) to help add an extra layer of strategy. These features could really spice up the gameplay and offer new tactics for players to explore.

One area that could use some polish is the user experience, particularly when it comes to fine-tuning the tilt and rotation of the cannon. It can be a bit cumbersome as it stands. A potential solution could be to implement a feature where, from the point you pinch, if you hold and pull outward from that pinch point, it provides finer tuning. This adjustment could make setting up those perfect shots just a bit more intuitive and satisfying.

The biggest issue I've encountered is with the AR functionality becoming jittery on the tougher levels. This seems to be due to the accumulation of arrows and other carnage, which likely puts a strain on the processor. When it gets too intense, adjusting my cannon and timing my launches becomes a frustrating challenge, and the game eventually crashes. A possible fix could be to have arrows and other elements fade away after a short period to help alleviate this problem.

Despite these hiccups, Bombaroom is an engaging and innovative game that brings a unique twist to AR gaming. With some tweaks and additional content, I believe it could become an even more compelling experience. The foundation is there; it just needs a bit of refinement to truly shine.

Thank you for your invaluable feedback! We definitely want to add more levels, strategies etc. But we are focused on user experience and game stability right now. About controlling the cannon’s turret, you are completely right. We are working on it how to improve and fine-tune player controls similar to your idea. In addition to this, gamepad support may be ready for the next release. We are aware of these performance issues in later levels. Unfortunately because of some platform limitations we use different approach how particle effects are rendered. Current implementation affects performance significantly. But we are working on it. I hope in the next version it will be improved.
