Learn all the N5-N1 kanji whilst a snarky Japanese AI insults you mercilessly.
Have you noticed that kanji apps are always SUPER complicated? Radicals. Kun'yomi. On'yomi. Paragraphs and paragraphs of text. It's just too much! (I mean, I'm not getting a PhD in Nihongo. I'm just tryna learn some kanjis!)
It seems there wasn't an app that would just let me see a kanji, hear how it sounds, and learn a translation or two. So, I spent a bunch of months of nights and weekends and built one for myself!
And now I'm happy to share it with you—for a nominal fee bwahaha!
Game Mode:
• Jam out to techno music while you race against the clock to translate as many N5 kanji as possible before time runs out.
• Claim your spot on the worldwide leaderboard of kanji geniuses.
Study-Mode:
• Learn all 7,171 N5-N1 kanji (as classified and defined by the Jishoo dictionary).
• Toggle between levels, shuffle up the list, and keep track of which words you've learned.
• Tap the kanji to hear it's pronunciation.
• Tap tap tap anywhere else to reveal the kana and translation.
• Keep tapping or swipe to advance to the next word.
• Pro Tip: Tap the translation to see additional definitions, examples sentences, and related kanji from the online Jishoo dictionary.
Note: By default, the app is constantly hurling AI-generated insults at you, spoken by your phone's built-in Japanese text-to-speech voice. It's quite amusing! But if you don't like it, you can always toggle it to "Nice Mode" in the settings panel of the Study screen, and the messages will instead be encouraging :)
