  • The app is way too buggy for this price

After buying the app to test I have came to a conclusion it is a very good idea, but there are too many bugs on the app plus for its simplicity of an app I would feel as if the concept should have been complete before the launch of this application. The short cuts don’t work with full ui of apple , a lot of the shortcuts take you to random places in the application you want to go to.

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy Dumbify. This is not a common issue that I hear, so I’d love to hear more about the bugs you’ve encountered so I can address them. I continue to release updates to ensure Dumbify works within the constraints set by Apple to provide as seamless of an experience as possible for those looking for a minimalist homescreen on their iPhone.
  • Shortcuts doesn’t work

I’m trying to get this set up. I’ve been working on it all morning. Some of the apps on iPhone need to go through shortcuts and it’s not opening on my phone like in the tutorial video. I’ve tried everything and I’m frustrated and there’s no contact info so that I can get help.
  • Works great!

This is a great app to help reduce my phones addictive nature. It was very easy to setup and works as promised. The developer seems very active in rolling out updates which is always a plus.
  • Great (given Apples limitations)

This is the best minimal launcher I’ve found. No subscriptions either.
Dev seems active with updates as well.
All of the problems I have are based on Apples restrictions of iOS, so I can’t fault this app for them.
  • My apps are not in the list

Thought this would be a list of my apps. Seems like a bug.

Hi there! Due to iOS restrictions, app developers do not have access to which apps are on a user’s device for security reasons. This is why not all of your apps are listed. We provide a list of default apps that contain the most common apps amongst iPhone users. For any apps not on the list, we provide direction (via our tutorial videos) on how you can add your own custom apps. Lastly, if you are not able to add your own apps, we also have a suggestion form where you can submit app suggestions. We do our best to add suggestions to Dumbify on an ongoing basis.
  • Too small

The widget is too small. It doesn't seem scaled properly. I see another review citing this issue with a response from the author back in April. Multiple shortcuts are needed because the text is too small when you have many apps listed.

    Developer Response

Hello! We’re sorry to hear this. There are widget size restrictions with iOS. However, our newest release (coming later this week) will enable users to set up up to 3 widgets. We hope this addresses the problem for you and you can continue to enjoy Dumbify.
  • Exactly what I wanted

I came across this app in a post about how to reduce phone usage. It’s awesome, basically exactly like I would hope this type of app would work. I’ve only had it for a day or so, but I think the main value is just changing the default experience you have when you open your phone. By reducing your home screen to a plain list, you interact with your phone with a much more intentional way. Thanks to the developer for making such an awesome app.

Hi there! We’re so happy to hear you are enjoying Dumbify and getting the most out of the app. Thanks for the review!
  • OK

You’re paying for widgets and shortcuts. The rest is wallpaper and dark mode. Nothing special.
  • Needs a blank spacer and better fonts

If they added a spacer and better fonts it would be perfect.
  • Does as advertised.

First app I’ve actually taken the time to right a review. If you’re looking to Dumbify your phone this does exactly that. The premise here is you match the background with the widget color, which the app provides and then declutter your Home Screen.

It takes a minute to get used to as you’re adjusting yourself to how you’ve always used your phone. You can still access all of your apps and the smart part of your device. This just adds points of friction so you aren’t on autopilot to do those mindless scrolls.

How the app functions does mean there is a bit of lag every time you do something so that snappy feel that Apple has gotten you accustomed too will go away. I’ll keep testing but as for the first night I’m very pleased and not bothered.

I’ve seen some comments that already offer some great ideas so I’m hoping overtime there is still some support to keep my phone from controlling my life, but also being useful.
