Horrible.

Don't waste your time. The app is slow, and even then plays very poorly. I had hoped it would give me the ability to explain why move x is better than y, and what makes a move a blunder or exceptional. No such luck. Subscription doesn't really buy much with the bad explanations. On top of that game glitched and kept resetting my move. Just ick.

Terrible AI

Cool idea but poorly executed. This AI plays very poorly and gives inaccurate analysis on moves. These are the first 5 moves (I was white, the AI was black)

d4 Ng6
Bf4 Ng8
e3 Nc6
Nf3 Ne5
dxe5
Then there is a 24 hour wait before I can unlock the AIs response.

Poorly executed

Good idea, awful execution. The bot makes nonsensical moves and doesn’t explain the board properly.

Also, ads after every move and only five free moves a day? This is such a lazy gpt-wrapper cash grab.

This is incredibly fake

I have zero trust in this and will never purchase this app. They give you 5 moves for free?? Not even a single game to see whether you like it? This is a gimmick, not an app. Do better.

Interesting idea

The idea is interesting- but ChatGPT is not good at chess. It has already lost its queen in my first game with it by move 5. While the advice is written well enough, it’s not good advice at all and will likely muddy the waters for inexperienced players.

Slow and stingy

You get 5 moves a day which seems quite ridiculous considering the average game is about 40 moves. It would take you a about a week to finish one game. It also takes the bot about 45 seconds to respond back even on move one. Why not do something like a free game a day or something similar

this ai does not understand chess at all

It moved the rook twice in the opening and considered moving the black rook back to a8 good because it controlled the diagonal…🤷‍♂️ also moving the rook to b8 somehow defended the f7 pawn?

Extremely weak and inaccurate - please read

Saw errors on the store page and decided to check it out. For reference I am 9th in my state and 2000 elo.

This bot plays with the strength of a 500 elo human and the text is complete nonsense, not adapting to the situation on the board at all. Additionally only having 5 moves per day unless you pay makes it clear that this is nothing more than a cash grab.

Stay away from this one and get some official training software from stockfish, leela, or fritz instead. They do what this does better with more features.

E4 E5 is not the open Sicilian

I only get to play 5 moves a day because I’m not paying $5 a month. In those 5 moves I put chat gpt in a dead lost position, and chat gpt’s analysis is very surface level while containing a few errors. At least it’s hasn’t made illegal moves yet like it has before this app was made.

If we could get the playing strength of stockfish and if chat gpt could explain positions like a human GM could then I’d be willing to pay for the app. Godspeed in your development.

This Thing Can't Even Spell Chess

Avoid at all costs. It mixes up pieces on the board all the time, constantly contradicts itself when explaining strategy, it screws up the names of the most common openings.

It took until move 3 (out of the 5 daily moves that free users get, unless you get past a shameless pay wall) for the bot to make fundamental mistakes that lost material.

Whoever thought this was a good bot either knows nothing about hooking up chatGPT to 3rd party softwares, or nothing at all about chess. Quite frankly the dev should be ashamed to ask for money for this.
