Excellent App
After a year of studying Spanish using various apps, books and recordings, I’ve become reasonably adept at reading, speaking and writing a basic form of the language. The problem is that when someone actually speaks to me in Spanish, I completely freeze. Inevitably, while I ponder the meaning of a word I’ve studied but forgotten, the speaker has advanced through two paragraphs of conversation. I subside into an embarrassed silence whenever my wife asks me to intercede with a native Spanish speaker.
When I’ve watched Spanish language shows using subtitles (Spanish or English), I realize that I am relying almost entirely on the captions while tuning-out the actual dialog. The value of this method of learning is modest at best. But if I don’t use subtitles, I find myself following the plot more through the action than the dialog. I may as well turn the sound off altogether.
At last I’ve discovered Palteca, an app designed to accustom the user to HEARING the language. I’ve only been using the app for a couple of weeks—although I usually complete two or three lessons a day—and I’ve found I can follow conversations in Spanish significantly better than before. The app has also introduced me to numerous video streams designed to improve users’ comprehension through immersion. Palteca also offers daily suggestions for practical ways to improve listening and ultimately develop the skills necessary to begin thinking in the target language.
Using Palteca in conjunction with my other “go to” apps has also made them more useful. I can’t describe how much this app has given me hope of finally becoming conversant in Spanish.ciiguy

Showed you should be able to get 6 month free trial today. Once you go in, it says 3 day. Went from app advise. Seems not working as stated.Sleepingirl7

This Spanish learning app is really good. The lessons are a very interesting take and are interactive, making it fun. And the speech recognition feature has notably improved my pronunciation. Keep up the good work Palteca!AMMP128
