SwellSpa is a therapeutic sound app designed by London’s award-winning Swell Studio, founded by international DJ and sound therapist Brian d’Souza. It offers purposeful, end-to-end sound experiences designed exclusively for spa treatment rooms, relaxation rooms and hotel bedrooms. Swell’s unique generative technology uses sound therapy, biophilic sound and binaural frequencies to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reduce heart rate and boost mood. Users can select their desired outcome from the options outlined below: ~To Feel Inspired ~To Connect With Nature ~To Feel Relaxed ~To Help Sleep DESIGNED WITH THE SPA IN MIND: Sounds can be choreographed to match the duration of the treatment and mood of the customer, delivering a novel listening experience on every listen, meaning no more listener fatigue. SwellSpa can also be accessed via iOS devices - typically set up in treatment rooms, listening stations, integrated with an existing AV set up or on vibracoustic furniture. SwellSpa is supported with workshops, training, on-boarding, and continual support through the process. TRANSPORTED BY SOUND: SwellSpa offers multiple ‘sound journeys’ not generic genres of music - helping to transport the customers to beautiful locations around the world through the power of sound. These include locations in forests or by the sea from The Outer Hebrides to Ibiza, Nepal, Japan, Switzerland, Cape Verde and India. The SwellSpa app puts customers and therapists in control of the experience - the duration of the treatment can be adjusted on the go and the experience becomes more active as a result - raising the value of sound in the treatment room to another level (with no copyright licenses required), and presenting a superior alternative to passive, traditional background music playlists. SCIENTIFICALLY-TESTED: SwellSpa is scientifically tested to reduce stress, lower heart rate, increase cognitive clarity (via the increase of alpha waves) and increase nature connectedness. It achieves this by the unique combination of binaural frequencies which entrain user brain waves, generative technology that adapts to preferences, sound therapy techniques that trigger the parasympathetic nervous system and musical sounds that are created by award-winning musicians. Our research study conducted in partnership with Kinda Studios and Goldsmiths University demonstrated that after only 15 minutes of use, Swell’s soundscape significantly improved relaxation, lowered heart rates, and increased alpha brainwave activity, enhancing creativity and openness. Participants felt more connected to nature, with notable increases in Nature Relatedness (NR) and Nature Connectedness (NC), key to wellbeing and pro-environmental behaviours. The study measured EEG brainwave and heart rate with a detailed questionnaire.
