The following bugs have been fixed ・In the event list view in the app itself, there was a problem with the event time and title being difficult to see when displayed in white text, depending on the background color of the event. Therefore, the event times and titles are now displayed in black text when the background color is light. ・Similar modifications were made to the checkboxes on the calendar list screen of the application itself and to the "Next Event (Chart)" complication. ・Complication of the monthly calendar display with the following events, there was a problem that the event display was difficult to read when the color of the event was close to black. Therefore, the design of the event display has been changed. ・Other minor problems have been corrected.

●Addition of new complications ・A new type of complication "Monthly Calendar (1st Half)" that can also display the next event is added. ・New types of complications were added to the circular and 1-line complications: "Year, Japanese Year and Month", "Month and Day", and "Month, Day and Day of Week". ●Bug Fixes ・In the "Next Event (Chart)" complication, a bug was fixed in which the line indicating the current time was not displayed and past events within the display range were not always displayed. *The line indicating the current time cannot be updated in real time due to WatchOS specifications, so this is a rough time. Please understand. ・In the "Next Event" and "Next Event (include All-Day Event)" complication, when there were events with overlapping times, the event with the earlier start time was always displayed. For example, if Event A (10:00 to 17:00) and Event B (13:00 to 15:00) were registered, Event A was always displayed from 10:00 to 17:00 in the previous version, In this version, Event A is displayed from 10:00 to 13:00, Event B from 13:00 to 15:00, and Event A from 15:00 to 17:00. ・Fixed a bug that the year value in the complication was not displayed correctly when "Japanese" was selected in "General" -> "Language & Region" -> "Calendar" in the iPhone Settings app, and the color of holidays in the monthly calendar complication did not change correctly. ・In the "Next event (include All-Day Event)" and "Next 3 events (include All-Day Event)" complications, the time of the all day event was displayed as "0:00" or "0:00-23:59", but it is now displayed as "All-Day". ●Fixes to improve speed ・In the event display complication, the preview display on the complication selection screen has been modified to show a fixed sample event. In the previous version, actual events were retrieved and displayed, but this took time and the preview may have taken a long time to be displayed. It would be better if the actual events were also displayed in the preview, but for the sake of speed improvement, please forgive me. For those who have installed the previous version, it seems that the information on the preview screen is saved on the device, so the sample events may not be displayed immediately. ・I have optimized the process as much as we can think of at this point.

Description of CalCs

CalCs (short for "Calendar Complications") is a watchOS-only app that provides various calendar-related complications. --- Important Notes --- The functionality embedded in the main body of the app includes only event list and monthly calendar views. Other functions are carried out via complications or Smart Stack. To display a 1-month calendar in complications, Series 7 or later models (excluding SE) that support Modular Duo watch face are required. (Even on models that do not support Modular Duo watch face, it is possible to display a 2-week or 3-week calendar in complications, or display a 1-month calendar in Smart Stack.) ----------------------- Key Features: ●Supports various complications such as date display, event display, and month calendar display ・Date Display: Displays the current date in various formats. ・Next Event Display: Displays next event synced with iPhone, including all-day event based on user preference. *In circular complications, only the 1st 3 characters of event titles are displayed. ・Next 3 Events Display: Displays the next 3 synced events from iPhone, optionally including all-day events. ・Month Calendar Display: Displays the current month's calendar, optionally starting with Monday. It's also possible to display the next event together. Offers 4 types: 2 weeks showing (this week and next week), 3 weeks showing (last week, this week, and next week), and the 1st half of the month and the 2nd half of the month. Placing 1st half and 2nd half types in Modular Duo or Smart Stack allows viewing a full month calendar. ●The main body of the app displays a list of events and monthly calendars In the app launched by tapping complications, it displays event lists synced with iPhone and monthly calendars. Event list view allows: ・Scroll to view events for the previous month, current month, and next 3 months. ・Long tap to scroll to current events. ・Swipe right to switch to monthly calendars view. *Event addition, editing, and deletion functions are not currently implemented. Monthly calendars view allows: ・Scroll to view calendars for the previous month, current month, and next 3 months. ・Double tap to switch between starting on Sunday or Monday. ・Long tap to scroll to the current month. ・Swipe left to return to event list view. ●Minimal Settings Due to the small screen of Apple Watch, settings are limited to selecting displayed calendars only. *Notes: ・Corner complications, circular complications, and large rectangular complications operate on Apple Watch Series 4 and later. Therefore, CalCs does not guarantee operation on Series 3 and earlier models. ・Due to watchOS complications update restrictions, there may be delays in updates after changes like adding or editing events on iPhone. ・It may take considerable time from placing complications for them to appear. ・If complications do not update, launching CalCs via complication tap might trigger an update. Please try this if needed. ・If complications still don't update, force quit CalCs and restart it. To force quit: 1. Long press the side button with CalCs open. 2. When the emergency call/power off screen appears, long press the digital crown. If full access to the calendar is not granted the 1st time it is launched, CalCs will not ask for access permission again. In that case, you will need to clear the permission once from the iPhone and re-allow it from CalCs. 1. Open "Calendars" under "Privacy and Security" in the iPhone Settings app. 2. Change the access to the calendar in CalCs to "None" once, and then select "Add Events Only". 3. Tap "Allow full access" when you are asked to allow full access when opening CalCs. ・Downloading CalCs from the App Store on iPhone may lead to sync issues preventing it from appearing on Apple Watch. As watchOS-only apps cannot be re-downloaded from iPhone's App Store app, please search and re-download "CalCs" from the App Store on Apple Watch if this occurs.

Reviews of CalCs

  • A couple requests to make it better

I like the app but it would be great if the space between a date and the event title can be closer. When there is no time event, space seems to be too much. Maybe use a smaller font size for time to keep the date and time to be same width. Also can you add an option to choose time format to 12h. Not everyone prefers a military time.

    Developer Response

Dear jjkim5. (I am not good at English, so I apologize if I misspoke or was rude in any way below) Thank you very much for your review and high rating. I am very happy to hear that you like it. First of all, regarding the first of your requests, the space between the date and the title, are you sure you are referring to the rectangular complication of "Next 3 Events" ? This is Ultra, and the space is reserved for a two-digit month. (Ultra has a thicker font than other models and requires more space.) But if it is a one-digit month on a model other than Ultra, it may indeed seem that too much space is left. I will investigate if the amount of space can be adjusted for different models. Second, regarding the time format, I did not implement the 12-hour format because it would require additional space for AM and PM. However, I understand the need for a 12-hour format. I will consider adding AM and PM indications, and then I will consider how to display them in a way that fits in the space available. Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. I will update this page as appropriate so that you can continue to use it, and I look forward to working with you in the future. If there are any differences in perception, I would appreciate it if you could add them to your review or contact me at the following e-mail address. au11785@gmail.com [added 2024/06/10]. A version (1.7) with adjusted space size in “Next 3 Events” was recently released. I would appreciate it if you could check it when you have time.
