For each immigrant family, it's important and hard to build a bilingual environment for kids. If a bilingual environment is not properly formed, kids become isolated from either the family or the society easily.
I raised my two kids in the US and taught them Chinese as their first language. Once they got to 1st grade, they started to use English only and communicate much less with the family. We used a lot of bilingual books to teach them Chinese, but these books are very hard to obtain in the US. Therefore, I wrote the "Omni: Bilingual Workbooks" app to cater to their reading level and interest. After two months of repeated testing and observation, my kids love this app. Every night, they would open the app and read a story. Their Chinese is greatly improved after a few weeks: They can read and understand messages their grandparents and use more advanced words to express their opinions.
Today, I'd like to share my "Omni: Bilingual Workbooks" app with every bilingual family. It's totally free right now, so you can try it out however you like. If you have a comment, please write to info@varidada.com
