Doesn’t work
Free version doesn’t work. Wasted time trying to use it
I’ve been looking for an app exactly like this for years.
It’s the missing link for my workflow and solves so many of the problems I had with other quick capture techniques. Only request, please integrate into the iOS settings that support this being used in Shortcuts to automatically start recording a note (I want to replace my iPhone Action Button with this)

Indispensable
There are plenty of mediocre and half baked AI apps out there that promise far more than they deliver. audioPen on the other hand, lives up to its promise and delivers every time. I wish more people would use it to clarify their thoughts before they send a request... it is also a big plus when you have it developer who is highly responsive to its users and Louis is clearly committed to making his app the best in class.

Process interrupted, try again
Downloaded and tried to transcribe my first recording and after the recording, app gave me an error message “process was interrupted. Please try again.” Trying yo transcribe again for 10 times yielded the same outcome. Restarted the app and the recording was gone. Unreliable…
Was my favorite extension now my favorite app
Have been using AudioPen for almost a year now. It’s been on my Home Screen as a favorite. When you have alot to say but can type as fast this is a gem. It cleans up my thoughts in several different formats from lists to legal writing.
A huge time saver. A must have.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Truly grateful. Will keep working to make sure you keep liking it as it evolves.
A favorite tool
I’ve been using the web version of AudioPen for about a year now, and it’s so amazing. It’s one of my favorite tools that helps me as a disabled business owner. I’m so stoked about the app, it looks amazing. And knowing the level of care and work that Louis puts into AudioPen, I know I can trust its quality. Congrats, Louis!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Appreciate it. And I'm glad you find AudioPen useful. I'm going to keep working to make sure it stays that way!
Prolific made simple
Over the past three decades inspiring others for a living, I've had so many great ideas never see the light of day. I’d start organizing and typing with the best of intentions, but then I get stuck.
How AudioPen Changed My Life
The freedom to speak my ideas and have a tool that turns my raw and often rambling thoughts into clear text is a game changer.
I'm grateful to have found AudioPen on ProductHunt when it first launched. Today, I use AudioPen to capture ideas, to journal, and to “speak-write” all kinds of content.
So far, I've used it to author more than 100 essays and 5 digital products. And right now, as I speak this review in September 2024, I'm using AudioPen to write a series of short books I plan to publish on Amazon Kindle.
But this isn't “AI-generated content” any more than having a professional editor clean up my writing would be “editor-generated” content.
Two Ways I Use AudioPen
1. Capturing Ideas
- Created a Shortcut
- Connected to Notion
- Created a custom style
2. Content Creation
- What’s the big idea?
- Mindmap the key points
- Use frameworks to organize
I also use it to brainstorm, create lists, and more.
The secret sauce hidden in AudioPen is the Writing Style or “recipe” feature — making it simple to train it to transform my words in a certain way.
There are stock styles in AudioPen and I have created custom styles for essays, social posts, book chapters, journaling, etc.
Result: The 'style' innovation allows me to write with AI without overthinking and without losing the human voice that makes the writing me.
How Does AudioPen Compare?
I've tried a half dozen other speech-to-text apps, but none of the others get it right.
AudioPen is best in class.
That's why it's the primary tool I recommend and teach in my Prolific Workflows training and coaching.
You can probably tell by now that I love AudioPen. And arguably the biggest endorsement is the most coveted place it holds on my iPhone 15: the action button.
In the unlikely event you don't know what that is, Google it, add AudioPen to YOUR action button, and use it daily to get out there, get your message heard, and do all the things you dream about.
All the best.

Thank you so much Ramon. So grateful to have you as an early, vocal supporter of the app. It means a lot to have you spread the word so generously.
