After Action Review of Recon @ Mission BBQ
Our small team (the wife & me) managed to infiltrate the target without any resistance.
As we maneuvered to the central region of this small territory, we were amazed at the amount of military intelligence on display throughout the entire route to our target. Upon reaching our objective rally point, we were greeted by a Mission BBQ Ambassador that shared valuable intel on their entire BBQ Arsenal & even offered us samples to try before we committed to engagement of any items in this extremely friendly BBQ Nation.
Intel Review:
1: No BBQ Bologna in their aresenal, so that was one strike from the Commander Deb.
2: All meats are alacart w/ 1 square of corn bread or a slider bun.
3: Sides can be purchased separately, but there are 2 combo options as an up-charge. Combo 1 has drink & 1 side and Combo 2 has same but 2 sides.
4: Along the route of attack as we reached our heavily fortified table that was well stocked with a 6 pack of various Saucey weaponry at our disposal.
Engagement:
I encountered, a formidable sized force of thick & creamy Cole Slaw at my target reference point as well as some exceptionally cheesy Mac-n-cheese under the cover of perfectly toasted bread crumbs between me and my prime objective of melt in your mouth sliced brisket that cuts with a fork and the juicy thick sliced Turkey breast. I had to force myself to disengage from the skirmish of the slaw & mac n cheese as the only threat from them was over indulgent devouring & that would have allowed my main targets to chill down. I redirected my focus, pulled out my plastic fighting knife & prepared to engage the sliced brisket. As I plunged my fork into the target & raised my knife preparing to engage in hand to brisket combat, I was surprised that the juicy brisket did not need to be engaged w/knife. It was tender and succumbed to my fork alone. Then immediately I found myself engaged with all 4 foes simultaneously. It got a little hot & tangey while utilizing 4 of the 6 weaponized sauces but I prevailed in my mission when I settled down with the big gun of traditional KC style armament and used the block of cornbread as cover between engagements with each foe.
Commander Deb also encountered a large force of hot hand cut fries with the perfect crisp outside & hot and soft inside. Our tactic was to split our attack from the north and south so I provided cover fire taking out some of her fries after my initial assault on the cheesy Mac n cheese. Then she opened fire from the north on the Mac n cheese, but just couldn’t bring herself to help take out the slaw. She wouldn’t advance on it saying that it too danger close to my position. I think it was because she had a score to settle with her main objective of pulled/shredded yard bird.
We were VICTORIOUS & full, with no wounds.
Bottom line it was good and the interior decor is absolutely GREAT paying amazing respect for all who served, every branch of the military, police, fire & medical personnel. Well worth the cost of a meal there and they give back to organizations that help Vets, LEOs, Fire Fighters, etc. sign up & get free Birthday food, special promotions & Vets eat a free sandwich on Veterans Day.
5 stars from me only because the choice didn’t include 6 stars.
4.5 stars from Commander D simply for lack of her fave BBQ Bologna.
Will definitely make this our Fave & Regular BBQ Establishment from now on. Might even try to get a bill introduced to make Mission BBQ our 51st State.
