  • Game-breaking crashes (as of version 1.0.4)

For the dev: I can’t play the game! :( It’ll let me let customize my character and name my first pony, but then it crashes when it tries to load the next area. I’m wondering if my phone (it’s an iPhone 8) is incompatible with the game.
  • So good!

As far as phone games go, this is by far my favorite one. Developer also seems to be pretty excited and engaged so that’s a good sign. Only downside is that I want MORE CONTENT. I really like the collection system, the ultra forms, the battles are fun, and most of the designs are fun. Excellent work! A couple comments, but they don’t make the game bad, just things I would do differently. The ui seems very much optimized for a controller. I think it could be improved for touch. Also, is there any alternative to the virtual control stick? Even a virtual d-pad would be better for this game, but I think an ideal setup would be one that sets the movement direction to be what you last swiped and held, and stop when the hold is released. I think starting at lvl 30 or whatever it was is kinda weird. I feel like I missed half the game!

  • Cute But Flawed Pony RPG

This is a charming and fun Pokemon style pony RPG. From the very start you’ll notice it’s heavily inspired by early Pokemon games. So what makes this worth playing over those old games? It’s simple, the ponies! Your companion is a pony that changes forms. You start with 3 types and continue to collect new forms in the same manner of catching new Pokemon. The only difference is it’s your little shapeshifter pony that stays by your side instead of constantly replacing your Pokemon. This game has a nice variety of attacks and abilities. There are some fun battle animations. The NPCs and towns have pony adjacent names. You get bonus stat points to use as you please when you level up, so your companion will more customized to your play style the further you get.

So is it all good? No, no it isn’t! There are some issues. The character (you) movement feels really bad. The joystick is positioned too close to the edge if the screen (for iphone at least) which makes movement awkward. Sometimes my character freezes in place and take a minute to start moving again. This is a big deal as the majority of your time is spent walking around.

There are only two trainer characters to choose from and I don’t like either. This game is brimming with personality so I’m shocked we don’t have more options to represent our own personality. I know this is typical for early Pokemon games but I was hoping to see more options. I often see NPCs that look better than my character.

Your pony starts at high level (38 or so). I’d rather raise my pony from an earlier level to become more familiar with the different abilities as I obtain them. Maybe the devs wanted you to have more to play with at the start.

It should also be noted that this isn’t the full game! You’re paying for an early access prologue scenario. This wasn’t obvious when I made the purchase.

  • Very disappoint

This feels more like a demo than an actual game the art styles great. The graphics are great, but the story mode is awful no tutorial no clear directions of what you should do. They should’ve really worked more on the story mode before releasing and start at level 30 is a very dumb thing to do because you don’t know what to do.

  • Finally!

I’ve been waiting forever for this game. Any wait for the rest of the story!!
  • The game and music is great

I found out about this game I think a week ago now and it peaked my interest, (though that might be because I love mlp) I saw the launch trailer and later that same day I got it and played it, it was fun to adventure around the map especially the fun references, the designs and small details are great along with the animations, the thing that makes me laugh is when the number randomly goes from a normal precent like 43% to 322% which had me laughing since it’s such a small detail but is great they thought of it

Now about the music, the music against the grunt is a bop, same with the music right before the battle with the grunt outside of the battle music the normal overworld music is both calming and exciting, I would like to thank the people who made this for doing such a great job

This is getting a bit long so I will end it with this, best 5 dollars spent, I can’t wait for the updates

  • Finally!

It’s finally out! Played the beta several times and this game does not disappoint!
  • Nifty Little Game

I saw this game in a youtube video and noticed it was only $5 so why not try it out? I wasn’t expecting much, but there was a lot of little things here and there that made me like it! Not the biggest fan of ponies, but there are more animations in this game than most pokemon games and I think one of them laughed at me? Almost threw my phone… I’ve spent $60 on games that I put less time into than Battle Gem Ponies! So I’ll keep an eye out to see what becomes of it!
