A long way to go…
I was also a long-time Moves user, and I’ve been looking for something similar since. Although it may eventually get there, PathPal, in its current iteration, is just a barebones imitation. Yes, Moves seemed simple in its appearance, but it provided robust insights into your day. To start with, it allowed the user to correct a place when mislabeled by the app. PathPal offers me a list of about five choices, never the one I am looking for. For my home address, it keeps guessing different venues that are usually far away. There is no way to label it “home.” I live in a dense city center, so why not allow me to custom-label my favorite places or pick the place I am actually at from the map? Also, a more detailed map with the type of activities color-coded instead of this lime green? Perhaps a weekly and a monthly view of where I’ve been, like a heat map? The list could go on… Anyway, two months is a generous trial, but I must see how it evolves. I wouldn’t pay for it in its current iteration. Especially not the amount the developers are asking for. Still, the best of luck with the development!Developer Response
As the developer of PathPal, I'm really happy to see such detailed suggestions, as they point out both current issues and future directions for the app. As you mentioned, the current version is still quite basic and has its fair share of bugs. That's why we offer a generous free trial period for you to get to know the app and provide feedback. I've noted down the features you suggested and will be working on them in upcoming updates. I hope you'll continue using PathPal and giving me your feedback. So please don't give up on us too easily.Lacking features
I just started using PathPal and have found some features it lacks when comparing it the original Moves app. It does not offer any settings or customization. No option to view distances in miles only km. No option to change the 24 time into 12 hours (am/pm). The path displayed on the map is solid green regardless of the activity. Moves had colored lines corresponding lines to each individual activity so you could make sense of your activities during the day and made it easier to edit activities (like when it says you were cycling but were simply walking etc). When you clicked on an activity in moves, the map would move to show you the corresponding path. I used Moves for years, this app is close, but not close enough to be useful to me or really warrant any type of subscription fee in my opinion.Developer Response
We are delighted to receive such detailed feedback—it's truly an honor for us. We have carefully read through every one of your suggestions, and they are incredibly valuable. As a result, we plan to gradually incorporate them into future versions of our app to meet more needs. Our app has just launched, so there are still many details to refine. For this reason, we are offering a two-month free trial period to allow anyone to fully explore and use PathPal, while also giving us the opportunity to gather more feedback to make our app even more useful. We hope you continue to use PathPal. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us, and we will respond as quickly as possible.
