A great one-trick pony
If you need to take a group of pdfs, pull pages from multiple files and combine them into a new file, this app is for you. While this can be done with Preview, it requires you to copy pages from one document, open a new file from the clipboard, show the thumbnails, and then drag and drop. I found it easier to use PDF Merge & PDF Splitter. My only suggestion: it would be great to add a page preview function when selecting a page or page range.

PDF Splitter
I just now downloaded this app onto my MacBook and was very skeptical that it would work. The truth, I was amazed at the ease and excellence of the app. My need was to find an app that would allow me to split a large pdf into small pdfs with only the specific pages that I wanted. This app did it with ease and extremely fast. I didn't even have to watch an ad to use the app. Four words, "use it, it works".
