  • We can no longer live without Canvis

If you take a lot of project photos for multiple projects every day like we do, this app will very likely become indispensable to you as it has to us. Just take your pics from within the app and presto! They're saved exactly where you want them and are accessible by all that you want to have access. No more plugging your phone in, creating and naming new folders within folders, no more clicking and dragging and waiting, and no more digging to find the photos. Saves us TONS of time every day. Thank you Kris Johnson!

  • Great for Logging and Sharing Field Observations

At our medium sized engineering firm we perform about 10-20 site visits per day, mainly to observe construction activities at different project sites. By using the phone's built-in GPS the app makes it easy to quickly find your project and start taking pictures immediately once your on-site. And the ability to access the photos through the Canvis website means I can share pictures with someone back in the office in almost real time without the added fuss of emailing or texting the pictures separately.

My only real complaint is the apps inability to run consistently in the background. Most of the time it seems like I need to have the app open for it to finish uploading pictures. I can't tell you how many times I have take 20-30 pictures then checked my phone half an hour later to find it's still uploading (and this is with good cell signal).

Overall though this app is definitely worth giving a try if you're looking for a good cloud based program to store and share your photos.

    Pros:
-Cloud based (syncs across all devices, everyone in the company can access)
-Projects are geo-located (projects pull up automatically once you press the camera icon and map view means you can see what projects are nearby)
-Ability to add text boxes and notes to pictures
    -Groups pictures by date
-Option to only upload over wifi

    Cons:
-Wish the camera had better tap to focus and zoom options like the standard iPhone camera app
-Every time I take a pic through the app it also saves the pic to my iPhone photo library, so though it's uploading to the cloud it's still using up space on my phone. I wish there was an option to "save or delete" photos once they've been uploaded.
-Inability to upload photos while phone is locked and app is running in the background

    Tips:
-If you want higher res pics and don't need to upload immediately, pick the "use higher res" and "upload over wifi" options under settings
-To get a wider angle sometimes I will use pano on the iPhone camera app then import the pic into Canvis

  • A must have in the building industry

This app is great! It's helpful & saves time! The built in gps which detects which project you are at and directs you to the folder where to save the pictures is awesome!
  • Awesome app

This app is perfect for documenting photos. You can name your photos as you take them. Very organized. The best kept secret in the App Store. Thank you for this.
  • Great Photo Management App!

Very useful app for managing and sharing project photos. Our mid-sized engineering firm is using Canvis almost exclusively for digital photo storage/management/sharing and it has worked extremely well. One especially nice feature is that the app automatically recognizes when you're on a job site using phone GPS. Nicely designed, but also allows adjustment of preferences for sharing, organization, etc.

  • Fantastic tool for Architects and Designers

35 architects at WWA use Canvis daily to automatically organize project photos, simplify annotation, and streamline sharing with clients, collaborators, and contractors.
It's a powerful tool that saves us many hours of work while improving the clarity of our communication with photos.
  • Love this App!

It's so cool. I can run around all day taking pictures and adding notes or sharing them with my client so I can make quick decisions. When I get back to my office all my photos are already organized!
  • Canvis in an Architects Office

We use Canvis to photograph all of our projects, and find the way that it automatically updates the photos, provides a map of the all of our projects and sorts the photos most recent to older is a perfect way to provide a valuable quick reference to recent project activity and progress.
  • Civil engineer

Need the ability to draw lines and free hand. Also need to be able to save marked-up images to the iOS gallery to upload images to other programs
