Not accurate
Response from developer
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with Hue IQ didn’t meet your expectations. While we strive for accuracy, we understand that color analysis can be subjective and the app might not be right 100% of the time. If one of the app's predictions feels off to you, you’re probably right. You know yourself best. We feel confident in our model, but at the end of the day, it’s built on statistical patterns, and we fully anticipate that sometimes its predictions won't align with expectations. Personal experiences and preferences around color seasons will inevitably vary a lot. That’s why we provide detailed information on warmth/coolness, darkness/lightness, and softness/brightness, so you can use that data to make decisions that feel right for you. Great Idea, Not Fully Executed
Response from developer
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that you appreciate the app’s breakdown of chroma, hue, and saturation—that’s something we worked hard to perfect. We also completely understand your concerns about how some color categorizations may not always align with expectations. If you want to get an idea of how a color fits into its broader seasonal palette, you can go to the colors tab in the wardrobe screen to get a list of all of the colors you have categorized. Sometimes the broader context helps it feel more cohesive. At its core, Hue IQ’s analysis focuses on how a color interacts with the unique qualities of each seasonal palette, but we also recognize that color analysis is a highly subjective process. That’s why we included the color detail scales—to provide you with accurate data on each color's characteristics so you can make informed decisions yourself. Instead of simply saying whether a color ‘fits’ or ‘doesn’t fit,’ we believe you know best and should have the tools to explore how different colors work for you, supported by detailed color values and potential seasonal compatibility. As for your suggestion about showing percentages across multiple palettes, we actually chose not to go down that path on purpose because we specifically didn't want to end up with a system where we show similarity to colors in premade palettes. Color is essentially infinite, and we believe it would be limiting to reference a set palette for each color season. However, your feedback about wanting the app to give more information about whether a color could work for multiple seasons does resonate with us and we will certainly have a team discussion about how to improve this side of the user experience. Your idea of making the sliding scales adjustable is really exciting! It could be a great way to help users visualize how small changes in a color could affect its seasonal compatibility, and it’s something we’ll definitely explore for future updates as a way to make our data more understandable. For example, we've noticed that some users interpret the warm/cool scale as "this is cool, for a purple" while others interpret the same information as "this purple is a cool color over all", and this is definitely an interesting ambiguity that we're looking for a way to resolve. Thank you again for your thoughtful insights. We're continuously working to improve Hue IQ and make it as useful and intuitive as possible. We genuinely want to make it a useful tool that does what our users want it to do and your feedback is invaluable in helping us get there! Best, James and Freya
your seasonal BFF especially for online shopping
you can take pictures of anything wherever you are, and it will tell you the season of any color that you select in that photo. but even better, you can upload photos which means you can see if the clothes you are buying online are in your season which takes out so much squinting at my screen— the app does the work!
on top of that, it tells you how warm/cool the color is, how deep/light the color is and how deep/bright the color is which is really cool because i don’t have a great eye for that kind of thing on my own, and it’s helpful! i feel like i’m learning and already see this helping me pick out my next shade of lipstick or seeing if i actually even own any summer nail polish colors.
