Description of Plant Sample Submission

This Sample Submission app allows farmers, gardeners, landscapers, arborists, agricultural specialists and others to submit digital photo samples to a university plant diagnostic lab for diagnosis or identification. Some labs may charge a sample submission fee. Please check the lab website for applicable fees. The app contains sample submission forms for plants ranging from small houseplants to large-scale agronomic crops. The user completes each form by responding to simple, customized questions. After entering a description of the problem and attaching corresponding photos the sample submission is sent to the selected diagnostic laboratory. The following labs are accepting submissions on this app (note exceptions for KY & NH): Alabama Cooperative Extension System  http://offices.aces.edu/plantlabauburn/ University of Connecticut Plant Diagnostic Laboratory  http://www.ladybug.uconn.edu/ University of Illinois Extension  http://web.extension.illinois.edu/plantclinic/ University of Kentucky Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (County ANR/HORT Agents Only)  http://www2.ca.uky.edu/agcollege/plantpathology/extension/pdd_lab.html Michigan State University Diagnostic Services Laboratory  http://www.pestid.msu.edu/ University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension Plant Diagnostic Lab (UNHCE Field & State Specialists only)  http://extension.unh.edu/Problem-Diagnosis-and-Testing-Services/Plant-Diagnostic-Lab-Plant-Health-Program Ohio State University C. Reviews of Plant Sample Submission

  • A must for every gardener!

Excellent app, snap and send a pic of your garden or forage issue and email. You’ll get a quick response from experts on what may be your gardening issue and how to resolve it. I’m passing this on to all my Master Gardener friends!!
  • Cool!

Great plant diagnosis app! Some schools charge a fee for submitting a digital sample (i.e. Only residents of Montana can submit for free to Montana lab), but other schools will give you a detailed diagnostic of photos of the plant submitted (i.e. Oklahoma). Be sure to use photos of the plant from your phone’s library. If you try to use the ‘take photo’ feature in the app, it crashes and you have to start the submission over.
